Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelcey Williams.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was 13 years old when I started cleaning for my aunt during summer breaks. She would give me $20 per house. I got so good at it, it was like it came natural to me. Fast forward, years later, I was working at the airport, a dead-end job, and I hated it. I worked outside all day long for 9.29 an hour. In 2012, I had had enough. I stepped out on faith with $700 to my name, and I started my own cleaning service. Over the years, the market changed, so in 2017 I rebranded my business, I extended our services, and I reanalyzed my marketing plan. Here we are 2019 and by the grace of God my business is still thriving.
Has it been a smooth road?
This journey has definitely not been an easy one. For years I didn’t know what direction I wanted to go in as far as my career was concerned. No matter what job I worked on or how many times I was promoted, I still couldn’t settle for a 9-to-5. I felt like I was making someone else rich when I could be investing that same time into myself.One thing I’ve learned on this journey is “Why blend in when you were born to stand out? “ I watched strong black women in my family like my mother, my grandmother and my aunt, hustle so hard to be moms and at the same time building up their own businesses. They definitely inspired me.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The cleaning industry is a great industry to be a part of. Within the next 5 to 10 years, I’m sure there will be way more “green cleaning” due to Global Warming. There’s always going to be new, fancy equipment, or a new product. So year after year you have to keep up with all the new trends. It’s time-consuming, but it’s great for business. In this industry, the number one priority is to give great customer service and keep it clean.
