Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Lowe.
Bri, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a 23-year-old wildflower born and raise in College Park. There was never much to see in my neck of the woods; however, I’ve always dreamed of being front row at NYFW, shopping with confidence and traveIing the world in style. I guess it’s safe to say I became a shopping addict pretty early on in life. I didn’t quite know what I would be doing and how I would obtain this dream but I was determined to follow my heart.
After attending Clark Atlanta University for some time, my life became a bit convoluted and I began to embark on a new journey. Ultimately, I was unable to finish school; however, I didn’t let that be the end of me. I wasn’t going to let a piece of paper determine the destiny of my career. I said if I couldn’t make it in life because I didn’t have a degree, I will make it because of my persistence, hard work, and dedication.
With that said, I started Chic Evolution. Chic Evolution is a glam powerhouse with a team of professionals specializing in wardrobe and beauty services. This company was not only created to service the film and entertainment industry, but Chic Evolution helps everyday men and women elevate their individual beauty and style!
Even with a small company on the rise, I am still that little girl with big dreams! I have mastered shopping with confidence. Now on to NYFW and traveling the world!
Has it been a smooth road?
Well, everyone’s story is different. For me, it has been faaarrr from a smooth road! Naturally, I’m like any other girl…a little shy and emotional, but this industry has taught me how to speak up and have tough skin. Talking to people had always been a fear of mine but it was something I had to triumph because networking is key in this industry.
Coming from a fashion background, I didn’t have much business experience so it was a challenge to become a self-taught business woman and do everything on my own. Every day is a different struggle so all I can do is embrace it, learn, and live.
When you look back, what are you most proud of?
Pulling off my first fashion show was definitely my proudest moment. I was new in the game with little experience; however, I did my research and didn’t give up on my mission. It wasn’t easy but I managed to coordinate the show, style the models, as well as help with hair and makeup. You can only imagine how busy I was that day! When it was all said and done, I was relieved but more importantly I felt accomplished!
Were there moments when you had to struggle?
There were plenty of moments when I struggled. Starting a business is a challenge within itself but finding the talent to work and grow with you is the bigger obstacle. There were many late nights and early mornings as well as overwhelming workloads; however, I couldn’t depend on anyone but myself to accomplish these things.
What’s your outlook for the industry in our city?
Atlanta is growing in many areas. Unfortunately, fashion just hasn’t gotten there yet. On the other hand, I appreciate its creative hotspots and loads of inspiration. Starting out, California or New York may be the top two ideal locations for those considering a career in fashion.
