Hi Aura, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in the United States Virgin Islands and moved to the mainland as a young child. I strived to excel in education and committed to that process. While in high school, my father was severely injured in a motor vehicle accident. I watched him suffer many days during his healing process. His case settled right before trial. The company responsible for the events that lead to the motor vehicle accident took advantage of him. I made it my mission at that moment to fight for individuals physically and mentally injured by the negligence of another individual or company.
I attended Georgia State University and received my Bachelor of Business Administration. I then attended Clayton State University and received a Master in Business Administration. After graduating from Clayton State, I was unsure about attending law school. I was nervous and did not believe in myself enough to think I could finish or even successfully practice law. After many years of doubting myself, I decided to take the LSAT and apply to law school. I attended and graduated from Georgia State University with a Juris Doctorate. After passing the bar and receiving my license, I opened The Taylor Law Firm and have been the managing attorney.
My journey was not easy, but I am living proof that you can do anything you want to do. It will not always be easy, but if you are willing to do the work and laser focus on your goals, you will achieve them. I now know as I live the life I dreamed of as a child, life is what you make it!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Having a child at 19 years of age, struggling to get a decent score on my LSAT, financial struggles, being a single mom, many days and nights of studying for 8-12 hours daily. I faced many struggles. Namely, having a child at 19 years of age, being a single mother, studying for 8-12 hours daily, and struggling to get a good LSAT score.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Taylor Law Firm?
We specialize in personal injury, which includes but is not limited to: car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, premises liability and wrongful death. We are known for our superior customer service and vigorous representation. Our approach is unique because we understand what our clients are enduring as I have been in their shoes dealing with a close relative that was injured in an auto accident and pressured to accept an unfair settlement. I am most proud of my growing firm and my growing brand the policy limit queen. I fight relentlessly against the insurance company to ensure my client receives the policy limit in every case that supports it. The policy limit is merely the max the insurance company is responsible for paying based upon what the negligent party has purchased coupled with the client’s own policy. There are exceptions. I am the policy limit queen because I fight for just that, the policy limit.
How do you define success?
Success is not about dollars and cents but rather working hard to live the life you want to live. Success is gained by setting goals throughout life and working tirelessly to achieve those goals. Once achieved, you realize that your hard work paid off and you enjoy the benefits, whatever that looks like. In life, you should consistently be setting goals and working towards achieving that goal.
