Meet Austin Cohen of Corrective Chiropractic in Buckhead, Sandy Springs, and Decatur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Cohen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Austin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started in Buckhead with 1 assistant in 2009 on a shoestring budget but the determination greater than anyone else to succeed.

Three months before opening, I walked up and down Peachtree Road introducing myself to every business and asking them about the community.

I asked them 2 questions to build relationships:
1) Do they see this as a healthy community where people focus on diet, exercise, and positive mental attitude?
2) Is there a doctor in the community they trust that embodies that lifestyle?

The I told them my vision and invited them to our Open House which ended up being 4 months later.

During those introductions, I met almost 1,000 people and this was the catalyst for my business in the beginning. I would do those meetings from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM and from 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM then 6:00 – 9:00 PM I would go to different gyms to introduce myself and provide information.

Over the years we grew fairly quickly which shocked everyone as unemployment was very high and the stock market was at an all-time low.

The key was explaining to the community the difference between luxuries and necessities. Many people had the perception that chiropractic was a luxury and would be out of everyone’s price range at these unpredictable times.

Eventually the market got better, unemployment went down, and we continued to grow throughout the years while providing the best customer service and proven results.

In 2015 we expanded into Sandy Springs by opening a fully functional 800 square foot facility next door to CrossFit Perimeter.

In 2016 we expanded again to Oakhurst in Decatur and hired a massage therapist to operate with my partner, Dr. Buck.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been mostly smooth but the parts where the bumps hit are dealing with staff issues. When I opened the doors, I was 27 years old and knew nothing about running a business. As I got older and had more experience working with staff the road became less bumpy.

Is every day perfect? Absolutely not!

We learn from the mistakes we make and bumps in the road are all learning lessons for us on how we can grow.

Please tell us about Corrective Chiropractic.
We are a fully functional healthcare facility that specializes in corrective chiropractic, functional nutrition, and massage therapy.

What separates us from everyone else is the results we produce and our proven process known as the Road to Recovery.

We objectively measure everyone’s body on their first visit and on their second visit follow-up with the results to create a strategy for results. As time goes on we then have progress examinations to make sure people are getting better objectively and not only subjectively.

Our Road to Recovery is what we review at our Strategy Session on the second visit to discuss our 3 phases of care: 1) Initial Intensive 2) Corrective 3) Protection

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
In the beginning we named our practice Cohen Chiropractic Centre and changed names in 2012. I would have started with the name Corrective Chiropractic and taken my name out of the practice to create scalability and growth.
