Hi Autumn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into event planning started with a deep love for creating unforgettable experiences. I’ve always been drawn to the magic of bringing people together to celebrate amazing milestones, and over time, that passion turned into a business.
At first, I started small—helping friends and family plan special occasions. I quickly realized that I had a natural talent for organizing, decorating, and curating details that made each event unique. Encouraged by the positive feedback, I officially launched Events by Autumn Wood, determined to turn my creativity into a thriving business.
Since then, I’ve expanded my offerings to include event decor, full-service planning, entertainment, catering, photography, balloon art, event staff, and more serving Metro Atlanta, Northern Georgia and beyond. Working with a diverse range of clients, from children’s birthday parties to lively corporate events, has allowed me to refine my skills and build strong relationships within the industry.
One of my proudest moments has been seeing my business grow organically through word-of-mouth and client referrals. Knowing that people trust me to bring their visions to life for their special days is the greatest reward. From intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations, every project is an opportunity to create something special and leave a lasting impact.
What started as a passion has become a fulfilling career, and I’m excited for what’s ahead!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any business, the journey hasn’t always been smooth. Starting from scratch in the event industry meant building everything from the ground up—brand awareness, client trust, and a reliable vendor network. In the beginning, I had to prove myself in a competitive market where experience and reputation are everything.
One of the biggest challenges was balancing business growth with financial sustainability. Investing in marketing, supplies, and operational costs while ensuring profitability was a learning curve. Additionally, managing multiple aspects of event planning—from logistics to last-minute changes—requires flexibility, problem-solving, and a strong attention to detail.
Another challenge has been navigating work-life balance. As a business owner and a mom of two young children, managing time effectively is crucial. There are long hours, late nights, and unexpected hurdles, but the reward of seeing a client’s vision come to life makes every challenge worth it.
Through persistence, learning from experiences, and building strong relationships in the industry, I’ve been able to overcome these challenges and continue growing my business. Each obstacle has been a stepping stone toward improvement, and I embrace them as part of the journey.

One of the things I love most about this city is the vibrant and diverse community. There’s a unique energy here, with so many opportunities for networking, collaboration, and creative expression. The city thrives on its growing small business scene, and I love how supportive people are of local entrepreneurs. The mix of cultures, amazing food, and endless event opportunities make it an exciting place to work and grow a business.
While the city has so much to offer, one challenge is the traffic and logistical planning for events. Coordinating vendors, deliveries, and setup times can be tricky, especially in high-traffic areas. Additionally, finding high-quality, affordable venues can sometimes be a challenge, as demand is high. However, with careful planning and a strong network of vendors, I’ve been able to navigate these obstacles successfully.
