Today we’d like to introduce you to Ava Hart.
Ava, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Two years ago, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia at age 26 to pursue a career in acting. I had no experience and knew only one or two people in Atlanta. I had zero experience in the industry but I knew I wanted to really go for it and pursue my dream because I was becoming stagnant and felt like I hadn’t found my purpose yet. Within two years, I was able to work hard, take classes, go to auditions, book roles and now I have a pretty full resume and I am booking work regularly (minus during COVID time).
I recently created my own website dedicated to discussing the tricks and trades of the acting industry for people that might not know where to start and what to do once they do! I really wish I’d had someone who could help me understand the in’s and outs of the industry but I went in solo. I really hope to be a role model to people who think it’s too late to chase after your dream, for those who feel like it’s not possible or thinks they won’t succeed. You have to believe in yourself and take the next steps to make it happen!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road! When I first arrived to pursue acting, I was lost. I was getting rejected for jobs because I was so new with very little experience. The solution was taking classes, working for free and showing that I can work and will work. I thought in my head how crazy I was for changing my life up for this. No one’s going to hire someone getting in their late 20’s doing this for the first time. That was a horrible way of thinking. Age didn’t matter. Showing dedication to the industry and crafting my talent is what helped me in the long end.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
So I am my own boss as of now. I am a 28-year-old actress who books her own work until I find the perfect agent! I also run my website. I actively search for jobs everyday. I take classes every week because we are never done working on our craft. Atlanta has given me the opportunity to grow. I think the part I am most proud of is how this whole journey started with me going after my dream alone scared and unsure and now booking great work alone with confidence and purpose. It says a lot about my work ethic and I can’t wait to see what the future holds! In the past year, I have booked awesome jobs, including a BMW commercial, a Wild Turkey Commercial, Scream Fan Trailer, etc. I even wrote my own short series. The pilot has been filmed!
I really hope people can see my story and it makes them wonder and makes them think that it is worth the risk, it is possible to take big chances and make big changes in life. Atlanta is the perfect place to do it!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I would say a hard work ethic is most important. This work isn’t just going to come. You’ve got to really put yourself out there and really believe in yourself.
