Today we’d like to introduce you to Avi Tate.
Avi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started in the trades by deciding which one I wanted to do. After some quick research I had landed on becoming an electrician. In researching I had found the IBEW 613, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. I started working for a union company as an apprentice in 2010. I worked for two companies while I was with the union; one was working at the Atlanta airport in the international concourse rail extension project and the other was a small outfit that did office electrical renovations and service calls. After being in the union apprenticeship program for about 3 years I saw that my views were not aligned with where I was and left the union to work with a small local company, Aardvark Electric. This is where I got the bulk of my knowledge of residential electrical work, Ellie is a really knowledgeable electrician. I stayed there for about a year, leaving at the end of 2014. Tate Electric was born officially at the start of 2015. I have since strived for excellence and am continually growing the business while not compromising my service. Refusing to pay for advertising is a key element, combine it with a commitment to old school business have helped me steadily grown since, gaining clients by only word of mouth.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a pretty smooth ride for the most part. But there are always hiccups! The biggest is finding someone competent and trustworthy to help grow the business.
Tate Electric – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Tate Electric is a residential full service electrical company. I do everything from ground up, new home wiring, to fixing an outlet and everything in between. I am most proud of my commitment to old school business and my sincere concern for my customers’ wallet before my own sets me above the competition.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have had many proud moments but there are 2 that outshine the rest. The first was the day I got my results from the master electrical test. The second was the day I received my final inspection on my first ground up wiring.
