Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Carolyn Hall.
Dr. Hall, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
B.O.S.S.CHICKS EMPOWERMENT COACHING was the result of my years of mentoring and working in the field of higher education (16 years as a college professor). My students would constantly come to me asking for advice and sharing their issues and concerns about the future. Because I am a woman of faith, my responses are always guided by my biblical beliefs. I began to see that there was a tremendous need for young women to understand that many of their problems were because of a spiritual deficit. I felt that they needed to understand that the bible was not a religious artifact, but empowerment for everyday living that would enable them to avoid many of the traumas and mistakes that they so often made.
In response, I write “The B.O..S.S. CHICKS PLAYBOOK: A Modern Girl’s Guide to Purpose and Plenty.” the book is inspired specifically by Proverbs 31 (The Virtuous Woman). I wanted all young women, including those I dont have immediate contact with, to know and understand that their future success is not tied to the acquisition of things (fame, followers, money), but is in their relationship with God and the ability to have His wisdom. The book then opened up a platform to a larger conversation with millenial women.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not at all. However, I believe that God allows us to be made uncomfortable during our growth process. The book was not an immediate success. However, I persisted and continue to receive emails and DMs from young women that talk about how the book and my messages inspired them or helped them through a tough time. So, for me, it’s not about numbers, but about making a positive impact.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My company is “empowerment coaching” for young women (15-32). I provide them with tools, plans, and strategies to operate in their purpose. I teach them how to become Bold.Outstanding.Savvy.
What sets me a part from other people is that I have years of experience and education. I have honed my skills and knowledge into a viable plan of action to help young women “BOSS UP.”
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I believe that success simply means walking in your God-ordained purpose. When you find and operate in God’s purpose for your life, it is enjoyable and abundance and prosperity find their way to you. It’s not simply about stuff or money. Think about it: there are millionaires and billionaires who are extremely unhappy and dissatisfied with their lives because stuff does not fill us. Being able to live a successful life is dependent upon your ability to walk the path less traveled and do those things that you are afraid of.
