Today, we’d like to introduce you to Bambi Lynn.
Hi Bambi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in middle school playing viola in the orchestra. Once I hit high school, I started making musician friends. One thing led to another, and before long, I ended up in my first touring band.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most musicians will tell you it’s not a smooth ride at all. There are always hurdles to fight your way through—be it anxiety, self-doubt, or just plain old bad luck. You just have to endure and hope things will get better!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with your work?
I play in various bands. Radio Cult is the longest-running project I’m currently in. I play guitar and keyboards and sing in this group. I also play bass guitar in the Ramones tribute band Learning To Count and guitar in the Joan Jett tribute band Cherry Bomb.
I’m also in a nerdgrass band, Possum Kingdom Ramblers, where I sing and play mandolin, cat keyboard, and acoustic guitar. I’m in a children’s band (geared towards kids aged six and under) under the moniker “Kitty KaPow & Professor Whiskers,” where I sing and play mandolin and acoustic guitar. I’ve most recently started playing drums for the band Temple of the Cat!
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think trying to make a living in the music business is a big risk! I’ve been fortunate that I’ve been able to make a living playing music, but because I love it so much, I suspect I’d still be doing it as a hobby even if I hadn’t been able to have a steady flow of work lined up.
