Meet Barclay Nay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barclay Nay. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Barclay Nay is a Hip Hop artist out of Canarsie Brooklyn, NY. She grew up engulfed in music and knew at an early age she’d be in the industry one way or another. At five years old she was walking through Bedstuy, Brooklyn while Big Daddy Kane was shooting a music video featuring Jay Z. She cried to be in the video and ended up in front dancing throughout the recording. Barclay Nay went on to study Theatre Arts, and that’s where she grew her stage presence. Barclay Nay has a smooth but lethal flow like Jay Z with a NY gritty sound like 50cent. She has also written for A-List singers and rappers in and out the industry.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a female underground artist in NYC is tough. Especially when you don’t fit the sexy, medically enhanced body, hair and makeup aspect of woman in entertainment. Barclay Nay is usually overlooked in the female category but is continually reminded she is not a man 🤷🏾‍♀️

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Barclay Nay is known for her fly and flashy style of rap but can also go toe to toe with the most lyrical artist today. Barclay Nay prides herself in originality when it comes to writing for herself and others. Even though Barclay Nay does not sing herself, she’s written some of the most beautiful RnB songs and has even worked/wrote with Pop & B artist Yatts Scissor Hands on her upcoming EP.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Barclay Nay took a year off of rap to get married and had a film crew follow her on that journey. Subscribe to her YouTube channel for all updates on the release
