Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia and Marcus Barnes.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Olivia and Marcus. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We began bartending at Olivia’s, which is my mother’s business (Olivia) and there we developed the craft of making cocktails. A few years had passed and we observed, asked questions, went to bartending school and really worked on our craft. Once we got more comfortable and efficient, we hosted several private events and received positive reviews on the experience and quality of our craft. The feedback set forth the confidence that we can create our own business as a husband and wife team, in which we provide a unique experience that leaves pleasant smiles on our client’s faces.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been the easiest of roads, but it also has not been the roughest. For example, the pandemic has caused us to completely halt our services and many events that we have booked with clients were canceled or rescheduled. As an upcoming business, we have to be sure that our brand is out there and well known; it is hard to do that if we cannot host events or bartend. We have met an array of people that has given us the confidence to keep going. We put our heart and soul into everything we do and it shows through our cocktails and our customer service.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Barnestending story. Tell us more about the business.
Barnestending is a boutique bartending service. We provide our guests with both an amazing cocktail and an outstanding guest experience. We create custom cocktails with our clients that cater to both who they are and the theme of their event. We have bartended many events, including weddings book launches, women’s empowerment dinners, retirement celebrations, and so many others. We love to see the joy of our clients when they hear their friends telling them that the bartenders “really know what they’re doing”! 🙂 We have spent many hours perfecting our craft and it really has served us well.
We like to think that our personalities set us apart. We truly enjoy creating an atmosphere that makes any event or party great! The cocktails are made with precision and love. Also, keeping a positive attitude throughout adversity is key for us. You never know if you were sent to brighten someone’s day!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We hope to see Barnesteding grow tremendously within the next 5-10 years! We want to add more staff, have weekly scheduled events, and increase productivity by at least 50%. Eventually, it would be ideal to have a brick and mortar location, but we want to give our mobile business more opportunity to grow first.
