Barrington, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Being a college graduate from Alabama State University with a B.S. in finance, I have dreamed I would become an entrepreneur. When I graduated from Alabama State God, blessed me with the idea of ATL (All the Luxury) Furniture. Growing this business is no walk in the park, ATL Furniture started when I graduated from college in 2016, a friend introduced me to selling Mattresses through third-party apps like offer up, let go, etc. In the beginning, I did not own a vehicle of my own. So I found myself borrowing my pops old pick-up truck to sell at least three mattresses a day. Now, of course, it was a lot of difficult times driving his Truck because it would give me problems on my way doing deliveries. I believed that everything would work itself out. Thankfully it did because, in 2017, I got connected to more vendors that opened the opportunity for me to sell a variety of mattresses and furniture. I thought to myself that this is my calling in life; to be able to sell luxury furniture at affordable prices in my very hometown Atlanta, GA.
So, I created a website and uploaded my furniture/mattresses inventory and started pushing my customers from third-party apps to my very own website. Just when I thought things were great, in 2018, I got hit with an email from a company with a similar name as my company. I had to change my whole business name or take a lawsuit. So, I came up with the new name that we go by today ATL Furniture I abbreviated ATL for All the Luxury Furniture. At that very moment in 2019/2020, I have received a blessing with a new truck, incorporation, and an inventory that allows me to sell on a bigger social media platform like Facebook, Instagram, and my very own website.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not having my own truck and depending on my pops old truck. Having to change my business name over a lawsuit.
