Meet Barry Brandon of For All Humans & WUSSY Mag

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barry Brandon.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Barry. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I believe in the power of possibility, the power of the universe and the power of authentic living. Growing up, I essentially lived in hospitals due to my heart condition – having eight open-heart surgeries by the time I turned 27 and having been pronounced dead twice. Isn’t that crazy?! I was so restricted in what I could physically do because of my health, and I felt so stuck.

Seeing that my feelings of stuckness no longer served me, I took a plunge and moved to NYC where I worked for The London Hotel as a concierge. Escaping the cold and inspired by the culture and nightlife in NYC, I moved to Atlanta and began work in promotions, eventually producing my own queer-centric, all-inclusive events with the help of my friends. After years working as a promoter I entered into the world as a curator & producer working with agencies, I opted to start my own creative + experiential agency offering design, consulting + producing services.

Additionally, I oversee the Chicago market for the campaign “This Free Life” curating and producing experiences for the LBGTQIA+ community as well as joining forces with Jon Dean & WUSSY Mag in 2017. Our growth has been significant, and we are SOOOOOO excited to release Issue 5 of our Art Book come October.

Has it been a smooth road?
Being born with a congenital heart defect that called for 8 open-heart surgeries from 2 days old to 27 years old, not graduating from high school, not being in a position to attend college full time or learn any set skill was I used to believe was the challenge but once I finally felt healthy enough following my 8th surgery I came to the realization that my life had prepared me beyond measure for what my intention was.

I felt a sense that I could achieve anything, do anything, go anywhere and be free and that fearlessness stemmed from my condition, so for me, my limitations wound up becoming my greatest asset.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with For All Humans as well as WUSSY Mag – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The weather is a huge plus for me. Mild enough winters are where it’s at. I love Piedmont Park and have been calling it a summer + spring home for almost a decade.

What I like least about the city is the lack of public transportation, the lack of locally owned boutiques and shops + lack of queer spaces.
