Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Kimbrell.

I am the President of Atlanta Awning Company, Inc. My father, Bill Kimbrell founded the company in 1987. Shortly after the doors were opened, my father asked if I would come on board and help with the fabrication and installation of the awnings. I was very good at it and had the ability to draw, design, and engineer the awnings we were creating. My father retired a few years ago and is close to 80 years old now. He still has an office here and comes in from time to time.
Has it been a smooth road?
Employee problems were our largest challenge through the years. We seldom have those problems anymore due to the fact that I pay my employees well and treat them well. This business is like a roller coaster in the sales department. One month you are slow and the next you have too much work. Everything we make is custom built to the specific application. That presents problem not being able to stock any product.

We are fair and honest with our customers and that has kept us busy with many repeat customers. We treat our customers like we ourselves would want to be treated. We manufacture custom canvas products in our own shop from start to finish. Then we install everything we build.
