Meet Benjamin Alfaro of Lafaro Film Company in Douglasville and Greater Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Benjamin Alfaro.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started making wedding films as a hobby. It started as a way for a poor college student to make some money to get some food in my fridge. The first time I filmed a wedding I instantly fell in love with it. The feeling of creating a life-changing experience for a couple on the biggest day of their lives is a feeling that is hard to explain. I chased that feeling and worked diligently on making the wedding day experience as magical as possible in the variables I could control. It became my passion.

I have always believed that if you chase money, you will never find fulfillment. But if you chase your passion, you will always be fulfilled. So I did that.

My heart will always be for my clients, to value people over circumstances, and to always try my best to go above and beyond to make their wedding experience everything they dream of. I love everything about what I do.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The initial struggle in any creative industry is the question… “Will people like my creativity?”. “Can I actually do this and succeed?”. Many times we cheat ourselves by letting fear and intimidation convince us that we should just copy what other people are doing in fear of being rejected. That was my struggle in the beginning.

But as my confidence grew my voice became more clear in my creative work. And I realized that people really do love what I produce! Sure there are times when I still receive rejection. But once I could overcome the struggle of self-doubt I really began to see my brand come to life.

Lafaro Film Company – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
LAFARO a specializes in making films, and now in 2019, lifestyle photography. Everyone has a story. A story that needs to be captured.

Though I am open to all genres of work, 90% of what I do is wedding films. Most people associate my work with weddings. It is my passion.

What gives me the most pride in my work is that it is more than work. It is about people. I have many long lasting relationships that have come from filming a couple’s wedding day.

Though it sounds unorthodox, I am people first, business second. I have seen my business grow more successful than I ever imagined and I think it’s because people feel loved.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It is difficult to narrow down my number one proudest moment. But I have many moments that remind me that I have the greatest job in the world. Those moments when you get a text message from a bride who is crying and tells you the film was everything she dreamed of. Or when you receive a Christmas card from a client that says “You are family now”. Or when you get that look from a bride that says “I trust you on the biggest day of my life.”

Those are the moments I live for.
