Meet Betsy Hollingsworth of B. Fulton’s Beauty Lounge in Stonecrest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Betsy Hollingsworth.

Betsy, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
From a child, I knew I would style hair because I enjoyed cutting and styling my baby dolls hair. Working in corporate America set the stage for building my clientele because I would always offer a hairdo to my Co workers and they were all, please. My clientele grew more and more. Year 2009 I took a leap of faith and did full hair time in a salon. After two months of being a full-time stylist, I had established a rotation of clients to sustain my lifestyle. I attained my certificate through an apprenticeship program and became a master stylist in 2013. Today I consider myself a thriving hairstylist and business owner. I have styled several celebrities, worked on major platforms with Travis Dowdy symposiums, Dr. Tish Sutton Who’s Next BootCamp, Jessica Rene, The Boss Experience and The Bronner Brothers Show.

September 15, 2016, I became a first-time salon owner of B. Fulton’s Beauty Lounge. My why, I desire to provide a cozy atmosphere for guests to have a home away from home experience and stylists feel proud to grow their clientele. B. Fulton’s Beauty Lounge is currently thriving in the vision. Styling hair for over 20 years, I’ve noticed a trend of a woman losing their hair. I didn’t know how to assist these clients; instead, I would install the most beautiful natural weaves. I realized I need the training to help my clients by enrolling in Trichology school in January 2020. Trichology is a hair and scalp expert from a holistic science approach. Through Trichology, I am in a position to help hair loss clients and this brings me the most fulfillment being a cosmetologist/trichologist. The key to my success is to treat others how you want to be treated no matter the circumstances and you will never fail.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road hasn’t been smooth but a positive mindset will get you through. I felt strongly about opening my own salon in 2016 because I desired anew salon culture that displayed unity, excellent service, nice atmosphere, and an amazing team of stylist. The most challenging part of my journey was building out the salon with hardly no cash or credit. I worked countless hours with hardly no time off. When I finally opened the, I was blessed with contractors who later became family. Today we have been open and thriving for four years.

B. Fulton’s Beauty Lounge – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
B. Fulton’s Beauty Lounge is a beauty salon in Stonecrest, GA. We do color, cuts, weaves, makeup, and an amazing shampoo. I’m proud my stylists are proud to grow their clientele and have been with me since I opened. Team unity, great atmosphere and the bomb styles is what set the B. Fulton’s Salon team apart. There’s plenty of talented stylists but many have taken short cuts by requiring the client to shampoo and prep at home. We provide the entire salon experience. I am known for my flawless weaves and haircuts and my favorite hair saying, “c’mon hair, What weave baby, and the style is in the cut.”

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is when you have purposely strived to achieve a goal that fulfills you and at some point, you have arrived to the destination. My passion and desire is making every woman feel beautiful inside and out. When you consistently receive positive feedback from the services you provide, this marks success. I get daily gratification because I know I’m successful.
