Meet Blake Weeks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blake Weeks.

Blake, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began working on the creation of my first fully-formed collection, Indefinite Articles, three years ago. The pieces are sculpture enclosed in glass cases. Each piece is unique and made up of found objects, beads, bones, teeth, fur, feathers whatever feels right.

Has it been a smooth road?
I had almost finished two years of law school before I realized I had to create in order to be happy. However, I also feel like I needed law school in order to prove that this is what I actually needed.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I think I’m most proud of my ability to see the beauty in things that aren’t always deemed beautiful. I think everything can be beautiful if you look at it in the right light.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I am so grateful to Atlanta and the wonderful design community we have here. My pieces are shown at R. Hughes at ADAC, and I’ve made such good friends with the owner and employees of Ryan and Steven’s company. They’ve become a family of sorts.
