Today we’d like to introduce you to Blakeli Swilling.
Hi Blakeli, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started the business when I was 19 years old inside a salon in Downtown Dalton, Ga! I had always known that I wanted to expand and after three years inside the salon, I was able to expand into a luxury spa! I officially opened in October of 2019, right before COVID hit. Starting in March of 2020, we were forced to close down by the state for 6 weeks due to COVID. We finally reopened and after we opened things were a lot different, clients were still nervous to come in for months! After a year of struggle, we made it to 2021 where we finally flourished and were looking into expanding into an even larger space adding more services for our clients! In June of 2022, we made the dream a reality by expanding into a 3,600 square foot space and offering everything from head to toe! We have finally grown into the dream I’ve had since I was young!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t, but it’s been the most rewarding experience and that some of the challenges have been being a young entrepreneur. COVID. The market going so rapidly it was hard to find a good space for the expansion.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Bloom Spa & Co. offers anything from nail services, hair and color services, and makeup to massage, facials, eyelash extensions, eyelash lifts and tints, spray tans and teeth whitening!
We are mostly known for facials and massage!
I am most proud of surviving through COVID and coming out of it by expanding!
Most salons/spas around us don’t offer the array of services that we offer!
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Just go for it! It’s always a scary process, but it’s always worth it!
Be patient and enjoy the process! It’s an exciting place to be in!
