Meet Brad and Leah Smith of Sno-Good Snoballs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad and Leah Smith.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Brad: The concept started from growing up on snoballs in Louisiana where snoballs are a big part of New Orleans culture. After living in Atlanta, I realized that there was a scarce market for shaved ice so my wife and I decided to start a business here. Originally we started in a tent serving next to my parent’s food truck at different events. The response we got from the customers about our product motivated us to branch out on our own and moved our business from a tent to a truck! We have been in business for four years now and still going!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been easy due to the fact that we are seasonal and only open six months out of the year. Our first two years in business were the hardest because a lot of people didn’t know about us and the type of product that we had, which led to inconsistently in profits.

Sno-Good Snoballs – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sno-Good Food Truck is known for its original New Orleans style Snoballs, which is a delicious frozen-shaved ice treat that comes with a variety of 30+ refreshing flavors. We provide the authentic taste of the New Orleans style snoball with the option of adding extras such as: ice cream and sweet toppings. We are known for the best-shaved ice in the metro area including our Best Seller The Strawberry Cheesecake Snoball, which comes with real cheesecake in it! We also sell New Orleans Pecan Candy and Frito Pies.

Aside from serving to the general public we provide catering for schools, private parties, and corporate businesses. We have catered for some “big time” companies such as Delta Airlines, Home Depot, Dicks Sporting Goods, and local schools such as: Clark Atlanta, Georgia State University, B.E.S.T. Academy, and Barack Obama Elementary, just to name a few.

We are most proud of the feedback we get on a daily basis from our customers and are also proud of how much we have grown as a business overall.

What sets us apart from others is our consistency of ice and our flavors.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Brad:
Success to me is being able start my own company and create job opportunities for other people.

Leah:
Success to me is being able to start something, remain consistent, and being able to support my family and others.
