Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Corder.
Brandon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey in music started as Music Producer, I’ve worked with artists such as Big K.R.I.T., Curren$y, O’Shea Jackson Jr., etc. I was born and raised in Flint, MI. I then later moved to New York followed by LA. The start of Beats x Beers was a show that we put together called Beats x Beers Festival which happened in Austin, TX at SXSW in 2015. From there we grew it from not just a show that happened at SXSW but multiple cities. The first city we did another show in was Atlanta. We did our first Atlanta show in 2016. From there we did multiple shows and events. Then we started collaborating with A3C Festival in Atlanta to curate a show every year. Beats x Beers has now had shows and events in cities such as LA, Seattle, Chicago, Flint, Memphis, Dallas, Houston, D.C. and more.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been far from a smooth road but a road that has definitely been worth it. It was challenging being independently funded and breaking into various markets. I knew that in order to become attractive to sponsors that I had to prove myself in various markets and establish a track record as well.
Beats x Beers – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Beats x Beers specializes in events, festivals, & shows. We’re most known for having unique events that have a wide range of audience. You never know who’s going to show up at a Beats x Beers event. As a company I’m most proud of the progress that has been made and going from a small city to being known on a national scale. I believe our niche is in the curation. Most people are amazed at the wide variety of people we attract and cater to all at the same time.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Atlanta. I think Atlanta provides a lot of opportunity if you know how to take advantage of it. Atlanta is a place where black businesses can thrive. I also love the success of black businesses in Atlanta. I don’t have any dislikes about Atlanta other than the traffic, lol.
