Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Dawson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Brandon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I made the decision to walk away from professional basketball in 2016, I didn’t know what was next, but I did know that God had a plan. Another thing I knew is that I had a lot of unresolved issues from my past that needed to be dealt with. So, I started writing letters to Jesus in the form of poems. With every poem that I wrote, it felt as though my troubles were being lifted from me. Before I knew it, I had forty poems written and God gave me the idea to put them in a book. I wrestled with the idea for a while but finally decided to do it, and in April 2019, I published my first book, “Love. Faith. Endurance. Messages to Jesus.”
It was always my dream to write a book, but for a long time, I didn’t know what to write about. Since I published my book, I’ve had the pleasure of working with other aspiring authors and helping them achieve their publishing goals.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth. For so long, I was identified as a basketball player, but when I walked away from the game, I struggled with finding my true identity. I had to realize that life is bigger than basketball and God’s plans were better than my own. There were also some insecurities there. People knew me as Brandon Dawson, the basketball player. Now, they would be meeting Brandon Dawson, the author. I’ve never been one to care about what others thought about me, but at this point, I started to wonder what people might be thinking. Ultimately I had to trust what God wanted to do in my life, and now when people come up to me and tell me that my book has helped them, I’m assured that I made the right decision.

Love. Faith. Endurance. is a platform that was initially created to inspire others to keep moving forward in their purpose regardless of how hard life hits. Then, God helped me realize that this platform could be so much more. My book, “Love. Faith. Endurance. Messages to Jesus” is a forty day devotional designed to help people see God as a friend, and not some tyrannical figure judging us from the sky. My goal is to help others develop or deepen their relationship with God through my writings. I’ve also been able to use the Love. Faith. Endurance. Platform to publish my book and help others achieve their publishing goals. Through this platform I’ve been able to educate aspiring authors on the publishing process and show them that publishing your book can be affordable and something that you can do on your own.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I was born and raised in Atlanta, and I’ve seen this city change and grow throughout the years. There are so many talented people here who are hungry to do great things. So I feel like Atlanta is the perfect place for businesses like mine. I just think your success is based on how hard you’re willing to work and who you surround yourself with because opportunity is definitely out there.
