Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Shaw.
Brandon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started in the industry back in 2012. At the time I started, I wanted to get into acting. I did background work for almost four years before, saw one of my best friends doing stunts on The Originals. After seeing that, I started to pursue stunts. I was training every day at different gyms in Atlanta. I later started to get mentored under Keith Davis due to my big brother (Kirk Jenkins) vouching for me. I landed my first stunt job doubling Eltony Williams for a couple of episodes on Tyler Perry’s If Loving You is Wrong. From there, I started networking and training.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. It was hard for me to pick up on fight choreography, different training drills, and getting work. I knew that I couldn’t give up though this was only the beginning for me, and I knew that giving up wasn’t an option.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am stunt performer in Atlanta. I performer stunts for various television/features here in Atlanta but also in other states (depending on where I am hired). I am an independent artist (freelancer). I specialize in on-camera fights, wrecks (falls), and wire gags, and hard-hitting reactions. What sets me apart from others is I am going to do my best to bring the vision production wants. I will not stop.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to either become a fight coordinator or start acting again. I look forward to creating and doing big things with my team.
