Today we’d like to introduce you to Braxton Prince.
Braxton, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My work with photography started back my senior year of high school. I had to choose a random topic I knew nothing about and learn from a mentor for over three months and present my work to the school. Over the course of working with my mentor, I actually started to enjoying photography and wanted to continue it. From then on I was the “camera guy” around school. Always take pictures of people and whatever caught my eye. After graduating in May 2015, I kept up my photography and started working with more clients such as BET and working different events around the city and a lot more models in my area. I even started modeling myself while also continuing my photography. 2019 marks my fourth year as a photography and my third year as a model and I’m excited to accomplish a lot more in my careers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Haha, my journey has not been smooth at all but honestly, I wouldn’t want my journey any different. I say the biggest challenge has really been motivation. As a creative, your biggest critic is yourself. Even now I say the biggest thing holding me back and mess up my work is myself.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Groovy Soul – what should we know?
Well, my business besides my equipment is myself. With working with me through my photography or modeling, I’m giving you myself and my creativity and my aesthetics. With the pictures I take or how I model. My business is packaging and giving you my aesthetic to add to the table. Honestly what I’m most proud of with my business and my work is that all I do it has my style to it. I stay very authentic with my work and I feel like that’s what separates me from others in this business. You will never mistake my work or vision for another persons.
