Meet Bre Gobin of Nomadic Fete in Lithonia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre Gobin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bre. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2006, I went to Auburn University to study Architecture and Industrial Design, after my first semester I realized that was not for me. Although I loved the design aspect, the technical side did not spark my interest so I decided to switch to Graphic Design. Being a part of the School of Art and Design and around other creatives is where I really found my niche. In 2009, I transferred to the University of South Carolina where I met Mary Robinson the Director of the Print Making department. She was a very influential part of my journey which led to me graduating in 2011 with a degree in Printmaking and Graphic Design. After college, I moved back home to Atlanta and started an internship with Atlanta Printmakers Studio over in the Metropolitan Studios now called “MET Atlanta”. That opportunity allowed me to meet other established artist and create new work while monitoring the studio. Shortly after, I began working at the Paper Source in Virginia Highlands where I led the Custom Print sector aiding brides and event planners with Custom invitations, business cards and stationary. These were some of the best years of my life fully immersing myself in the Atlanta Art scene and having the opportunity to Create Something Every Day. In 2015, I began my corporate career where I currently work as a full-time Graphic Designer.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Taking the leap and having discipline to create my own art while working a full-time job has never been easy for me. I found myself constantly coming up with excuses as to why I didn’t have enough time. In 2018 I finally buckled down and decided that I have to share my talents with the world for myself. I no longer wanted to create for a corporation only but to also build my own brand and legacy. Friends and Family were always encouraging me to teach children or host paint parties so I decided to merge the two together and Create Nomadic Fete.

Nomadic Fete – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Nomadic Fete (Traveling Paint Party) is founded on my love for having fun and Creating. The Goal of Nomadic Fete is to encourage others to dismiss their comfort zones and indulge in enjoying life. I host Private Paint Parties for 2-24 persons in the comfort of their choice (i.e.: home, business or other venue). I specialize in a Paint Party that allows the customer to customize their canvas and really gives a one-on-one lesson on painting in an energetic form. As a company, I am most proud to have my first large scale mural featured on the historic Auburn Ave at the MBAR Atlanta. What sets Nomadic Fete apart from the rest is my love for encouraging and motivating others.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always interested in art. One of my fondest memories is coming home from school and watching Pappy Land. Pappy was an artist who taught children song, dance and life lessons. His lessons were always very clear and simple to follow with vibrant colors. I was so influenced by this show that I believe it reflects in my current work. I am known to love to party, have fun, and see the bright side in everything. The world is my oyster and I strive to stimulate others with my work.
