Today we’d like to introduce you to Brent Star. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Brent Star is an Atlanta-based featured comedian, camp drag performer, game show host, and actress since the early 2000s. He’s done guest spots on radio, small spots in film, hosts weekly DRAG BINGO shows and even occasionally does DRAG QUEEN STORY TIME for the little ones.
He’s also performed with Margaret Cho at the Laughing Skull Comedy Club (where he was the resident comedian there recently for the month of July and February). Aside from all types of events around town in drag or on stage doing stand-up, you can catch him in a featured extra role in Netflix’s DUMPLIN and currently on HBO’s DOOM PATROL Season 4 Ep 4.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh wow, that’s a very general question for me because I’ve done and do so many different things. Plus I still run into bumps on the road here and there but my attitude has always been THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
For example, with stand-up, it took me a while to learn how it’s much more important to have more confidence than jokes.
For drag, I had to learn to embrace my own style despite what look is popular or trending.
And for men, I had to learn that sometimes I have to be on top in order to get the job done!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I entertain both adults and kids (I do mascots and superheroes for kids at parties and events)
What do I specialize in? Comedy and hosting.
What am I known for? Being an Atlanta camp drag queen, comedian, and game show host.
What am I most proud of? Constantly creating my own lane and constantly growing as an artist.
What sets me apart from others? There’s only ONE Brent Star (WHEW! thank God) Also the fact my stand up AND drag goes against the norm or trend sets me apart as well.
How do you define success?
Being happy is first on my list!
Being able to achieve ALL the goals I’ve made in life!
