Meet Bre’ona (Young Breezy) Reed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre’ ona (Young Breezy) Reed.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bre’ ona. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My name is Bre’ ona Reed, the most fly Breezy from the Eastside of Atlanta. In high school, my homeboy Josh started calling me Breezy and it just stuck. Before graduation I had teachers to counselors running with it. I changed my Twitter and Snapchat name back when snap was actually popping (2014) to @oneyoungbreezy and that shit had magic in it. I was regular person but I always knew I was special. I went to the University of West Georgia for 2 years and that shit really changed my life. I’m not even going to incriminate the people who made my college experience what it was but they already know how we are coming! 4L bout my UWG family. I got my first Billboard on The Westside due to my connections from West. That’s huge me being an Eastside baby to have my first Billboard at the Historic West End Mall. Real Atlanta shit. I can’t continue my story without saying shoutout to the aux cord!

The aux cord changed my life, bro. Before Bluetooth took over the game, all we had was the aux. in the car at functions at kickbacks you HAD to have an aux to play music aloud. I wouldn’t near call myself no DJ and disrespect all the guys I know who actually work in that craft but man if I had a dollar for every time somebody told me I should DJ I’d b rich. On campus I kind of became known for hoping in the aux and turning shit up. Anybody’s whip, anybody session, anybody function I’ll get asked, DJ. My peers trusted me enough to continually keep the vibes going, that’s a huge responsibility and I never disappointed. I’m breaking new shit all time.

I can vividly remember thug dropped SS2 and the first words to scream out are “No, I’m not Jordan but I am the goat, diamonds they wet like a boat,” and I lost my shit. Nobody knew that wasn’t thug, even though it clearly says (ft. lil Uzi vert) niggas just thought it was a thug and ran with it. That one line sucked me in and I HAD to do research. Back then you can only get LUV is rage on SoundCloud (s/o to SoundCloud and all the artist I discovered off there). I played LUV is rage everywhere I stepped. This was when nobody knew who uzi was and I swear on everything I’m responsible for putting so many people onto his wave. My man Scoot who I just shot an interview with told me the other day I was the first person he has seen the tweet about an artist like an uzi. People trust me when it comes to music, they trust my ear. I never thought to have my own show but apparently everyone around me knew I was destined for it. I’ve always been me, I’ve always been the coolest person in the room. I’ve always been seen without saying anything, always was heard without raising my voice. I love to be me, I know this confidence is embedded in me from my mom and grandma. They always made sure to let me know I was important, I was special, to always stay true to me, never ever want to fit in. The idea of me having a show came from my now playa partner KP. I went to do a promo video for his T-shirt brand KoolMoneyCo. Shooting the shit he pitched me the idea and I thought he was just playing around. I wasn’t nervous I wasn’t scared it’s just the thought of me being center stage all attention on me never crossed my mind. I’m not that type of person in real life, I’m not a “look at me” girl. He basically convinced me right there in that moment I had to do it. I told him if I have a show like me, my own show it must have two things. Cus what I will never do is speak on things I don’t know about. That’s how you look stupid, talking to early or talking too much. The two things I can talk about for days, the two things I know I’m an expert in. Music and gas. That same day “HotBox’n with Breezy” was born, later to be named 40onPump4.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I thank God every day I haven’t run into any slimeballs yet. I undoubtedly believe I am covered and that this is my purpose. I was made to scout talent. I have a vision. I see the potential. The dots connect in my head and the sparks fly. Creating the show 7months ago has been the most straightforward most fun project I’ve ever done. It’s me. It’s mine. Nobody can tell me how to run the show, who to have on the show, when to drop an episode. I thank God for building me this way, minor hiccups can’t move me. I prayed so long for vision, purpose for my life. I always knew I was different, I always knew I was special so bumps in the road never faze me. If I booked you for a show and you played me, you never showed up, left my messages on read, gave me the run around, if I reached out to your manager or your people and they played me or never responded. Thank you. I feel no way about it and I’m gone see you. We gone have our moment for sure. I’m still gone be a fan and we can always do work. I’m gone get exactly where I need to be because this is my story. You playing me is apart of my story. Thank you.

Please tell us about the business.

This is a show made by a true fan. I want to talk to everybody who played a role in the game. This isn’t just for the artist. I ask the questions us fans want to know. What was going through your mind when you made this smash hit? What was the energy like in the room when you got your first major placement? These are the things as fans we want to know. I give my all when it comes to these interviews. I do my homework and I’m coming knowing more than you ever thought I would. Nonetheless, it’s still one of the most chill informative interviews out there. Ask anybody whose been on the show you come out the box with a big smile and a big fan.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mother! Everything I do is for her. Everything I am is because of her. She had me at 17 years old and we been locked in since ’95. I’m gone change her life and that’s on the soul! *Lil James voice* My best friends Chyna & Eric mean the absolute most to me. They know the real me , they seen me at the lowest point in my life and never changed. We was so broke and lost. Only thing that kept me going was them. I was so grateful to have theM when I was going thru the ugly. We had each other and we’d never let either of us fail. When they read this I want them to know they are important pieces of me. You are carved in my heart. I love y’all so much and I’ll never leave you. Ever. To have people who undoubtedly, love and support you is something every person living should experience. I met Chyna in the 7th grade at Bethune Middle School and we shared a broken iPod in science class. We couldn’t see the screen cus it was so cracked but we had some of the best hood shit ever on there. Hella old Gucci, Jeezy, TIP this was like ’08! I knew then she was my soulmate and I never had a friend like that. She made me whole. She gave me love. We grew together. Eric is my brother. He’ll never trade on me. We met in 10th grade at Towers High off Glenwood and we been locked in since. I can trust him with my life and know in my heart he wants the best for me. I’m so grateful to have friends that grew me up. Friends who never let me fall too deep. Friends that believe in my dreams. Mario is my favorite person in the world. Mario is so special to me because he seen my light first. He poured inspiration and affirmation into me from Day 1. To know that people love the real you. They appreciate the good the bad and the ugly. That’s my foundation. Unwavering love and support. How I can fail? Kadeem I pinky promise everywhere this life is going to take me I’m bringing you. I would b still at stage 1 without you brother. You made all this possible. You special, your mind is one of a kind. Thank you for trusting me, believing in me. I won’t ever trade on you. Let’s grab this bag. My entire family, all my close cousins, thank you. If you ever poured life, positive words into my spirit. My success graciously thanks you
