Today we’d like to introduce you to Bria Allure.
Bria, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my business in March 2019 and opened it to the public on June 7, 2019. The inspiration behind my business was my grandmother. As a kid, she always had the best jewelry and other accessories that I would beg her for. She would eventually give in and let me have the pieces I wanted. Her jewelry was so nice that people would often ask me where I got it from and I never really had a place to tell them. In 2019 she became very sick, I started my business in honor of her because I knew it would make her proud and collecting/looking at jewelry was one of our favorite hobbies to do together. It launched two months before she passed away so now every time something good happens with my business, I know it’s because of her blessings.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business has not been easy. It looks easy on the outside because most people just see the cute Instagram theme and witty captions. Behind that, I’m doing everything by myself while still working a full-time job every day. It can get frustrating but my business is my passion so I’m willing to put everything aside and continue to work hard to show everybody the positive aspects of it. The biggest struggle at first was support from people I’ve known for a long time. I felt like I didn’t get support from them until they saw strangers or internet friends supporting me and by then, I didn’t want or need the support anymore. As time went on I realized if people want to support you, they will – you will not have to ask!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I mainly specialize in accessories, but I am starting to branch out into the beauty and custom apparel world. I’m most proud of being able to do everything on my own and how I was able to get my favorite celebrities posting and wearing about my brand! What sets me apart from others is that I try to be different and have my real personality show in everything I do, and people like that about me. I don’t have a “separate” way of acting when it comes to promoting my brand. I give people exactly what they wanna see and hear.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mom, my sister, and my brother. They all pushed me to keep going and to start it. When I’m busy with work or busy doing things they never hesitate to offer to pack orders or help with inventory. Aaliyah Jay is one of my biggest inspirations and life and helped me a lot when she posted and made a video about my business. She had nothing but positive things to say about me and it made me happy knowing someone I’ve supported for years supported me the same way. My twitter friends, I could never leave them out. There’s so much they have done for me and I haven’t even met half of them in real life. They promote more than me sometimes and literally take ZERO days off. I love them.
