Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Crisp.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The Atlanta Georgia Table Tennis Association, AGTTA, Inc., was founded in 1960, and become a NonProfit Georgia Corporation in 2010.
AGTTA has been located at several different parks during this time, most notable were Chastain Park recreation center, Rhodes Jordan Park in Lawrenceville, and now is located at Lucky Shoals Park in Norcross. On Britt Road, just off Jimmy Carter Blvd, AGTTA is conveniently located for most communities in the Greater Atlanta Area.
AGTTA operates 4 USATT Sanctioned 2 Star Tournaments each year in March, June, September, and November, and we operate the Georgia Games Table Tennis competition in July each year, free of charge to the State of Georgia. This is a two-day event, with Georgia Cups being given to Adult Team winners and Youth Team winners.
AGTTA also provides a very valuable and popular program to the Greater Atlanta Community at large. FREE Coaching is provided by ITTF Level II certified Coaches on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 – 3:00 PM. As such, we are able to provide coaching for all levels of players.
AGTTA plays on 16 tournament quality professional tables on Tuesday from 6:30 – 10:00 PM, and on Sundays from 12:30 – 5:00 PM. We play in a spacious gym at Lucky Shoals Park, with great lighting and wood floors.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been many struggles through the years, moving being the greatest issue. We are striving now to find local Sponsors who may love the game and what its’ health benefits are, to sponsor our Tournaments, and help us continue to provide a quality, economical place for enthusiasts to play. This goes hand in hand with our Mission of promoting the sport of Table Tennis. This year we have been able to forge Partnerships with Paddle Palace, Mega Spin, and Zero Pong, some of the largest Table Tennis equipment and apparel providers in the US. So, we can offer a product at a small discount to our patrons.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the AGTTA, Atlanta Georgia Table Tennis Association story. Tell us more about the business.
AGTTA is proud of our Tuesday night League program that allows players to play in a competitive round robin environment, similar to a tournament environment, our Sunday FREE Coaching program, our Tournaments, run by our USATT Hall of Fame Tournament Director Wendell Dillon, and our ability to have Open play as well because of the number of tables we have.
AGTTA is also proud that we are able to maintain fresh playing surfaces through our commitment to purchasing two new tables each year and selling two used, therefore ensuring that we have great tables to play on all the time.
AGTTA is also proud of our commitment to the NCTTA, National Collegiate Table Tennis Association, by sponsoring the Regional College Championships twice a year.
AGTTA also supports the JTTF, Junior Table Tennis Foundation, a local group of High School Students through sponsoring their annual tournament at no charge.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
AGTTA was not, is not built on Luck. Hard work and dedicated volunteers have made AGTTA what it is today.
AGTTA has both long and short term visions for Table Tennis in the city of Atlanta, and in the State of Georgia.
Our President, Brian Crisp would love to discuss these goals with any community, business, or educational leaders at any time.
