Meet Brian D. Vancil of Mall of Georgia Dentistry in Buford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian D. Vancil.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brian D. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was a Chemistry Major at the University of Georgia, and graduated from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 2001. I then moved to St. Petersburg Florida, and graduated from the University of Florida with an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate in 2002. After graduation from Univ of FL, I moved back to Atlanta to be close to family and opened the Mall of Georgia Dentistry. We have worked to be a small, personal office with attention to detail for 15 years. Our patients are not only patients, they are fellow church members, family, friends, and colleagues. We treat every person individually, and not only strive to help them keep their teeth healthy, but we strive for overall health. It is imperative that we not only know our patients, but know their dreams, desires, and goals. In 2015 I graduated from Tufts Boston with a degree in dental sleep medicine. I now work with neurologists, ENTs, pulmonologists and family physicians to help keep patients healthy and smiling from the inside out.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing is ever smooth. We have watched the evolution of insurance, the downturn in the economy, and patients feel the stress to put food on the table or fix a tooth. That is where individual care comes to play, we work hard to educate patients to help them make the best decision possible for themselves. Every person has their own struggles, but honestly, I keep focused on God first and foremost, and I pray daily that God just allow me to be a vessel for him to work through. I constantly pray that my hands are his hands, and trust that He is in control. With every trial and struggle, there is a victory thanks to Him. Thanks to Him, there is always a focus to do what is right not only for patients, but for all those who come into contact with our office, and with Him, all things are possible.

Mall of Georgia Dentistry – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Personal care. At Mall of Georgia Dentistry, you are not just a number, you are not just a chart, and we realize you are a father, a mother, a brother, a sister, a grandma or grandpa. You are a nurse, a teacher, a caregiver. You have a life outside of our office, and we strive to be a part of that world. Life is about connecting with others, taking more than a second to listen, and understanding how we can make tomorrow better than today. I am passionate about education, and teaching our patients how to truly care for themselves and their loved ones. I love treating patients with TMJ complications, and helping them find solutions they did not know existed. It is a wonderful feeling to help patients with chronic headaches be pain free, and it is exhilarating to help patients feel confident about smiling and taking selfies. I am passionate about overall health, and ensuring people don’t die from sleep apnea. I love teeth, and everything about them. I love people even more. I wish every patient to have the smile they desire, and the self-esteem that goes with that. I had a traumatic experience as a youth at the dentist, but one dentist changed my life and helped me feel so much better about myself. I strive daily to be that life changer for those I meet daily. I am proud that we are making a difference in our community, one good night’s sleep, one life, one smile at a time.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is simple to me. How many people are better off because of their interaction with me. If someone feels better, looks better, sleeps better, smiles more, laughs more because of me and my team that was a successful day. My goal is to make tomorrow even more successful than today.
