Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Davis.
Brian, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been working in the music industry since I was about 15 years old. I held a couple of internships throughout my teenage years and when I started college, became the music editor at the popular black entertainment blog, ConcreteLoop.com. This really put me in a position to meet artist, songwriters, producers, and record executives.
It was then that I realized that I could put my many talents to use as a creative force in the industry. I did everything from consulting, graphic design, art, and creative direction, and even dabbled in songwriting.
Has it been a smooth road?
Working for yourself is never a smooth road. You just have to find your footing and figure out what works for you. When you’re a fulltime creative and a freelancer, you sacrifice a lot of things to be able to choose the work that you want to do and work with your own schedule. Not only that, there are no manuals for any creative fields. It’s still fairly new. People are trying to find ways to make money off of their talents. It’s just a matter of branding yourself and making yourself stick out. You have to be able to find a happy medium between promoting yourself, but also making sure that you’re all about doing the work.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Etcetera Production Group – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We consider ourselves a full-service creative production company. We offer everything from creative concepts, songwriting, and production, to photoshoots and styling, just to name a few services. Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’m an Atlanta native, which is hard to come by these days. I love that here, you have the best of both worlds. If you want the hustle and bustle of big city life, you can get that, but if you want to just chill-out and vibe, all you have to do is drive a little bit outside of the perimeter and have a calming experience. There’s a duality about Atlanta that I haven’t found in any other place.
My least favorite thing? Let’s face it. The traffic sucks.
