Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Jones.
Brian, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Back in 2007, we had purchased a dealership for a motorized screen system. After running so many leads and being shot down by the cost of a motorized screen system by so many consumers, we set out to build a better “mousetrap” for the masses. We knew that home owners were starting to use their garages for more than just a place to park cars. Garages were being utilized for work out rooms, recreation rooms, hang out areas and people wanted to have the ability to have the garage door open and keep out the bugs and blowing debris.
We set out to design the Lifestyle Screen to be an affordable solution for screening in garage openings. It had to be built to last, easy to use, and affordable to the homeowner. In 2009, after a 48-hour period of back and forth drawings between the partners, the Lifestyle Screen was born.
The prototype was built immediately and a video was produced to show the function of the newest garage screen door. The video was sent out to about 100 random companies that may be interested in the new product. Within five days we had over two hundred requests for more information. It was at this point we knew we were on to something.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In the search for suppliers of our components we were approached about licensing our idea in which we did. That relationship lasted approximately two years before we terminated the agreement and went into production for ourselves, we haven’t looked back.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Advanced Screenworks – what should we know?
We manufacture our patented product, the Lifestyle Screen system. Our patents have been issued in the United States and to date two other countries. We are a company that feels like family and we treat all of our 1200+ dealers like they are the only customer we have. That kind of customer service is unheard of these days.
Today, we manufacture in-house a variety of screening products and have a few more in the research and development stages.

The company was originally founded by three members: Rocky Persaud, Brian Jones and a third partner that has since sold his interest to the two remaining partners. Each of us brought a special skill to the table, I liked to call it the three legged stool. Rocky brought the accounting and procurement, Brian the sales and marketing, and the former partner the mechanical responsibilities.
