Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Webb.
Brian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a Georgia native raised in Stone Mountain. I have 13 years of experience in the Film/TV industry. In the early parts of my college years, I attended Savannah College of Art and Design where I learned computer animation and graphic design. Later, I would go on to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Media production studying film. After I graduated, I got his first job in the industry as a production assistant on music videos. Shortly after, my jobs ranged from camera operator, casting assistant and extras casting director. I worked on many film and television shows throughout the south. Some of these projects include The Avengers, Walking Dead, Star, The Passage, 24 Legacy, and many others. After my last stint as an extra casting director, I went on to become a talent director at PureFlare. This is where I get my talent auditions for tv, film, and commercials. My last few bookings, where a few of my talent booked was a show called MacGyver and two commercials.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing in life is smooth, I repeat, nothing in life is smooth. I’ve had to overcome many challenging obstacles. The most major one being stress. High-stress levels kick in when dealing with these multi-million dollar projects. They always want everything on your end to be perfect and if it’s not, they will definitely let you know. When I was an extra casting director, I had to work extremely long hours. I would be on set at 5 am in the morning and wouldn’t get home until 11 pm at night. I would book people for a special part on a project and they would cancel on me last minute. Then, I had to hear it from the higher-ups, that warn fun. Then, there are just so many things you have to keep learning in the industry. Again, it will never be smooth in this Industry.
PureFlare Talent & Modeling Agency – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
PureFlare is based in Atlanta. It is known for cultural diversity and represents talent in tv/film, commercial, print, and voiceover across the South, North, West regions, also in Canada. I am a talent director for the agency. My job is to get my talent auditions in front of casting directors. I am proud of how fast the company is growing. We have Been around for about four years now. The thing that sets us apart from other agencies is that we are located in Atlanta and Los Angeles. Both locations are SAG franchised (Screen Actors Guild), not all agencies are. SAG is the Screen Actors Guild, the union for professional movie actors.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is when I’m in a happy state, doesn’t necessarily mean making a ton of money, although money is good. I enjoy giving people a chance to accomplish their dreams. Nothing like hearing how excited a person gets when they book their first role on a project. Life is about giving and helping others. If you have positive thinking, you can accomplish so much more. I like to look for good energy in people. That’s the kind of people I like working with. To me, staying positive is the key to success. When you’re negative, you’re already defeated.
