Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Hickman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Briana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I opened the first salon in 2010. I knew that I wanted my own business when I was in high school, but I didn’t know what kind. I worked at a hair salon in my spare time about age 10 and 4 years after Cosmetology school, I stepped out and opened my own salon. B. Xquisit Hair Studio has been open ever since.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I have learned a lot and still learn a lot every day. The biggest struggle along the way was finding team members that fit in the company.
B. Xquisit Hair Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our team has quite a bit of talent. We offer a wide variety of hair care services including precision cuts, extension services, and hair color. We also offer massage therapy and skin care services including makeup, facial waxing, and microdermabrasion.
I am most proud of the knowledge I have gained about business and the beauty industry. I believe the thing that sets us apart from other salons first and foremost is our consistent outstanding customer service and the amount of talent we have. We also travel at least once a year as a team to continue our education.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally think success is when you are happy while you are doing what you love, and have a great amount of peace doing it. Of course you want to be profitable, but definitely happy. I’m not so big on fame, I’d prefer to be known for quality, so I feel most successful when our clients let us know that they love coming to our salon because of the atmosphere.
