Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Johnson
Hi Brianna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a little girl, I would spend hours in the library, reading books on braiding and the basics of cosmetology. Those early passions eventually led to the creation of my very own business, Brivené Cosmetics, est March 6, 2024. As a lash artist and esthetician, I’m thrilled to offer henna tattoos, lash clusters, facials, quick weaves, limited braided hairstyles, and manicures-all at college-friendly prices. I wanted to make beauty services accessible to students who deserve to look and feel their best without breaking the bank. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the unwavering support of some incredible people. First and foremost, I want to acknowledge my Founder, Investor and Socials administrator , Jhace Edwards, who has been instrumental in the success of BriveneCosmetics. His belief in my vision and dedication to our brand have truly paved the way for everything we’ve accomplished together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the challenges I faced early on was gaining a steady clientele. Building a customer base took time, effort, and patience, which could be discouraging at times. It was tough to stay positive, especially when progress seemed slow, but I reminded myself that consistency and persistence would pay off in the long run. Learning to trust the process and focus on delivering quality services helped me push through those moments. Another major challenge was learning to balance it all—being a full-time student, working nearly full-time, and managing my business on the side. It was overwhelming at times, but it taught me the importance of time management, discipline, and staying organized. Despite the long days and sleepless nights, my passion for what I do kept me motivated to keep pushing forward.
As you know, we’re big fans of BRIVENECOSMETICS . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a multifaceted beauty professional specializing in hairstyling, lash extensions, henna art, nail services, and more. While I offer a variety of services, I am most known for my college-affordable lash clusters and relaxing facial treatments. What sets me apart is my welcoming environment and competitive pricing tailored to college students, which allows me to cater to clients of all ages and backgrounds.
I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, including building a strong and loyal client base who trust me to make them feel confident and comfortable. I’m also excited to announce the upcoming launch of my cosmetics and clothing line, FiveStarCosmetics, on January 25, 2025. As the sister brand to BriveneCosmetics, FiveStarCosmetics will cater to all my FiveStarDollies who love high-quality cosmetics like lip gloss, lip liners, and more. This journey has been about growth, innovation, and ensuring my services and products are accessible to everyone.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck, both good and bad, has certainly played a role in my business journey. There were times when things didn’t go as planned—like unexpected challenges with suppliers or slow periods—but those moments taught me resilience and the importance of staying adaptable. On the flip side, I’ve had incredible moments of good fortune, like connecting with supportive clients and mentors who believed in my vision. While luck can influence the journey, I’ve learned that hard work, consistency, and a positive mindset are what truly drive success.
