Meet Briauna Rogers of The Gathering Spot in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Briauna Rogers.

Briauna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Rochester, New York where I spent my early years. My family later moved to Tallahassee, Florida, there is where I started to grow into the woman I am today. In high school, I was introduced to the arts. I started dancing and fell in love with performing and being on stage. My passion for creating followed me to college. I attended The Best HBCU in the Land, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. There is where my outgoing and creative personality grew even more. I studied Theatre, I danced, I modeled and I was very involved in my Sorority and Student Government. In college, I realized I had a gift for Creating and Executing Events. I would run Campus Elections and Plan Programming Events for the Office of Student Activities. After graduation, I decided to “play it safe” and work in corporate. I worked my way up the corporate ladder at Wells Fargo and moved to Atlanta. I hated Banking but I made good money.

Over the years, I realized that career wasn’t feeding my soul. After researching The Gathering Spot and talking to a few friends I realized, I wanted to be a part of something like TGS! I applied for a Concierge Position, in hopes of later moving my way up to be apart of the events team. After a long interview, I realized God had another plan, I was no longer interviewing for the role of concierge, I was interviewing for Member Events Manager. Today I am proud to say, I have the responsibility of curating over 20 Member Experiences for the Membership each month at The Gathering Spot. Who would have thought my passion for creating experiences for my friends would manifest into a meaningful career. I love what I do, and I feel that my creative background is the driving force behind the woman I am today.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey was not easy at all, I experienced many hardships along the way. School was definitely tough, I became the first person in my immediate family to graduate from a University so quitting was not an option! Moving to Atlanta was exciting but very scary. When things got rough, I didn’t have my family there so it was a struggle. No one really knows this so consider it an “exclusive” but, there was a moment where I was laid off and ended up being homeless for a minute. I had the option of going back home but going home felt like failure. I was too prideful to let anyone know while it was going on but, I figured it out and learned from the experience.

The Gathering Spot – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Gathering Spot clubs serve as a hub of diversity and cultural epicenter for one-of-a-kind experiences, impactful gatherings, collaborative learning, and transformative relationships. I currently serve as The Member Events Manager, where I am responsible for creating and executing over 20 member experiences each month for our membership.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career would have to be right now. The feeling of loving what I do. I will be 29 this coming July and never have I felt fulfilled in my career. I always say, when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work, and thats how I feel right now.
