Meet Bricesin Scott of West Newell Entertainement, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bricesin Scott.

Hi Bricesin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story began with a fight for my life. Born three months premature, doctors gave my mother and grandmother little hope for my survival. I arrived with webbed hands, an incomplete leg, and toes that had formed their own way, so my body told a story of difference from its very first breath.

While the medical world saw a list of problems, my family saw purpose. Their shared, unwavering faith became my foundation. As I grew up, my real battles were not physical but internal. I was on a quiet search for identity, trying to find my place in a world that often stares. For years, I felt a deep disconnect between the life I was living and the person I was meant to become.

The turning point came when I began to see my struggles differently. Instead of obstacles to overcome, I recognized them as my calling. Through faith and radical self-honesty, I finally understood that these challenges were my preparation all along.

That realization is the heart of my work today. As a speaker, writer, and coach, I help people find the purpose hidden in their own stories, because I learned that your story is not about what happens to you. It is about your perspective and choosing to see what is being built in you.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of the hardest moments were the quiet ones no one else could see. Growing up physically different meant learning early how to carry myself in spaces where attention came before words. Kids would ask things like, “Why do you walk funny? Is it cause your mom dropped you?” or say, “Was your mom on drugs?” and “I bet your family didn’t want you, huh?” The truth was always the complete opposite, but as a kid you don’t always have the language or confidence to answer back. So I learned how to smile through it while still trying to understand myself.

College brought a different kind of fight. There was a constant effort to be seen beyond what people labeled as disability, and moments that forced me to rebuild confidence and self-worth from the inside out. Adulthood added another layer, with seasons of sitting alone and asking myself honest questions about who I was becoming and what I truly wanted my life to stand for.

Looking back now, those seasons didn’t break me. They formed me. They strengthened my faith, clarified my perspective, and showed me something I carry with me every day: none of it was wasted. Every moment prepared me to walk in purpose with clarity, conviction, and peace.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At its core, my work is about helping people turn pain into power. Through keynotes, workshops, seminars, coaching, and writing, I help individuals and leaders make sense of their experiences and use them as fuel for growth, clarity, and purpose. I’m known for creating environments where people feel safe enough to be honest about where they are while also being challenged to see what’s possible for their lives. That sense of honesty often becomes the foundation for real connection and community in every room I’m in.

What sets my work apart is how lived experience, faith, and practical insight come together in a way that feels both real and actionable. I don’t just talk about resilience. I help people recognize the strength already forming in their lives and show them how to move forward with intention. Brand-wise, I’m most proud that everything I’ve built feels authentic and grounded while still creating lasting impact. I want readers to know my work isn’t about temporary inspiration. It’s about helping people leave with clarity, confidence, and the courage to live with purpose.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is running a kids’ marathon in Columbia, South Carolina when I was about eight years old. I had worn a prosthetic leg since I was two, but signing up for that race was one of the first times I consciously faced fear. In the days leading up to it, I remember feeling anxious and questioning myself. I kept thinking my leg might come off while I was running and I’d have to hop the rest of the way in front of a crowd. On the morning of the race, it was cold, and as my mom and I walked through downtown Columbia toward the starting line, the crowd and noise made my nerves even louder. But when the siren sounded, I ran anyway.

I remember the cold air hitting my face and the bright running clothes all around me as I tried to keep pace. By the final lap, everything changed. My lungs tightened, my clothes felt heavy, and I caught a cramp while my asthma shortened my breath. One by one, the other kids passed me until I was in last place. For a moment, I felt defeated. Then something shifted. I realized both of my legs could carry the struggle, not just the prosthetic one. I started running again and crossed the finish line exhausted but proud, not because I placed, but because I finished what I started.

What stays with me most is what happened afterward. A man approached my mom with tears in his eyes and thanked her for letting me run, saying it gave him the courage to keep fighting for his business. Soon after, another mother walked over with her son who also had Amniotic Band Syndrome and thanked my mom because seeing me run helped her believe her son could do more than she had allowed herself to imagine. Looking back now, that race taught me something I carry into everything I do: fear doesn’t disappear, but courage grows when you move anyway.
