Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgette Martin.
Bridgette, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My mother was a beautiful and talented actress and I always idolized her. Growing up, I would help her practice lines and attend castings with her, sometimes even acting alongside her in auditions that called for a “daughter” role. When I turned 15 she took me to get my first headshots and got me signed with her agent in Nashville. I began attending auditions and landed my first acting job when I was 15 years old playing the lead in a film starring Sherman Hemsley, most well-known for playing George Jefferson on The Jeffersons. I got to leave school for two months to film the movie and I was officially hooked. I continued auditioning and booking acting and modeling jobs in commercials, music videos and print advertisements throughout high school and college. My dream was to be in front of the camera in one way or another, so I pursued a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
When I graduated, I realized I wasn’t ready to jump into a reporting career and give up the acting and modeling industry I loved so much. I ended up moving to Florida where I met Christine Harris, the Founder and Director of Premiere Model Management established in 1993. As my Mother Agent, she introduced me to so many amazing agencies and casting directors in her network and I began acting and modeling full time for brands like Publix, Florida Orange Juice, Thermacell, Rasmussen College, Perkins Restaurants and many more. I wanted to get involved behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera so I began working as an assistant for Christine at the agency. I worked as head Hair & Makeup Artist and Stylist for Premiere photoshoots and eventually moved to an Assistant Agent position. One day Christine was talking about how busy the Atlanta market had become and mentioned the idea of opening a Premiere branch in Georgia. I jumped at the opportunity!
We opened Premiere Model Management Atlanta in January 2019 and have found an amazing niche in Woodstock. With Premiere’s 26 years in the business and 15 years of personal experience myself, we know the modeling and acting industry is intimidating and confusing to navigate alone. I took everything I learned from my experiences and tried to make my business exactly what I would’ve wanted to come across when I was new to the industry. I take pride in helping aspiring actors and models chase their big screen dreams while also striving to be a protective, safe place and keeping the best interests of my models and actors at heart.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working in this industry definitely has its ups and downs. Being an actor or model takes a lot of courage and hard work… staying confident, getting excited about an audition but trying not to get your hopes up, studying and memorizing lines, trying your absolute hardest and working up the courage to walk into a room full of people who look exactly like you and are competing for the same part… then not landing the role. Then getting up and do it again the next day! It involves a lot of rejection and sometimes it’s tough to convince yourself to get up and try again. But once I would receive that call from my agent saying I booked a job, no matter how big or small, I knew my hard work and dedication was paying off and I immediately got a huge adrenaline rush to keep going. Coming onto the agency side of things has actually been easier for me because I’m confident that I can prepare new talent for the road ahead based on my experiences and my connections in the industry.
Premiere Model Management Atlanta – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Premiere Model Management is a 26+ year old Mother Agency that works with actors and models of all ages, shapes and sizes. We work with a variety of different divisions in the modeling and acting world and specialize in scouting, developing and using our industry connections to place models with our partner agencies in the area and all over the world. We provide personal one-on-one guidance and we take pride in protecting and advising our talent and always keeping their best interests at heart.
I am so proud to be a part of Premiere Model Management. I trusted this company from the moment I stepped into the Florida office as an actor and accepted them as my Mother Agent. It’s easy to feel lost in the modeling and acting industry, not knowing who to trust, attending auditions and castings day after day and feeling alone in your fight to make a name for yourself. It really helped me to have someone I could trust, turn to for encouragement and always fall back on. I enjoy working with aspiring actors and models because they are always so full of life and so determined to work hard and chase their dreams. They inspire me every day to work hard for them!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The opening of the Woodstock Premiere branch has been the proudest moment for me so far. It takes a lot of courage, hard work and persistence to start a business and you have no idea who is going to walk in those doors when you open them! It was a huge undertaking but I quickly learned that there are so many ambitious, driven (not to mention beautiful!) people in this area that dream of getting started in the modeling industry but just have no idea where to start. I am proud to be the person that gets to help set dreams into motion and guide the dream chasers along their path to success. Atlanta is an amazing city full of opportunities for those who are willing to work hard to grab ahold of them. It is truly inspiring to work with people who love this industry just like I do and I am so lucky to work in the field I have always had such a deep passion for.
