Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Ames.
Brittany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I didn’t actually set out to create Brittany Ames Artistry. I have always had a love for all things creative but I originally thought I would just do music. I sing and went to school for Music Media. Six years ago, my brother and sister-in-law bought a DSLR camera and they let me use it to take photos of my makeup. I fell in love with the quality and wanted to really learn how to use it beyond automatic settings. That small startled me to where I am now. Lightroom then Photoshop… one skill just developed into another. It’s funny because growing up, I always had hobbies outside of the one thing I thought I would pursue as a career. I always had a camera on hand because I liked to capture moments, I loved to watch people apply makeup and practice on myself, I even tried learning HTML at a young age because I was fascinated with building websites and the Windows Paint program. Life has a way of bringing things full circle. I was meant to be here in this space, even if I didn’t always know it.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has definitely NOT been smooth. I’m probably still in the bumpy part, to be honest. I’m having to figure things out as I go in business. I come from a family of entrepreneurs but all in different fields. The market is so saturated that I sometimes thought about giving up. In the age of the Instagram entrepreneur, it’s hard. However, I keep reminding myself, that what is for me, is just that… FOR ME. So, I stay in my own lane and patiently keep building in silence.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
My business is called Brittany Ames Artistry (although I am working on building another). I offer Graphic Design, Photography, and Makeup Services. The bulk of my clients are interested in graphic design services since this is the area that has the most reach. I can work with anyone anywhere in the world. I offer logo design, minor branding services (such as brand themes, social media templates), flyers, website building, I also offer mobile photography and makeup services. I am most proud of the fact that I can offer a wealth of services that help others to upgrade their brands at an affordable rate and make their own mark on the world in some way. I love that I get to be apart of that. I’m not sure if there is anything that I do in particular that makes me stand out in general, but I will say that I genuinely care about people. I love the reactions that come along with seeing a client’s vision brought to life. Taking an idea and bringing it to fruition is something that really makes me happy. We can ALL win.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like that a “big city” experience is just a short drive away from where I live. Restaurants, Museums, Tourist attractions and the like. The thing I like least is probably the summer heat. Lol. I am not originally from ATL so the heat without a breeze is torture some days.
