Brittany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Battles Who Travel literally started as an idea. There was no conception (initially!) or a prolonged thought that made me say, “I’m going to start a business.” While I get to travel quite often, I was preparing the night before my flight out to Rome, France, Monaco and the Amalfi Coast in June of 2019. I began packing and reflecting over my service in the United States Army apart of the medical field and the many places I got to visit in the process. I began thinking about all of the travel experiences I was afforded and how I got to experience certain cultures. I began thinking of the 27 countries I had visited (at that time) and how I was not able to get a passport stamp for that.
If you are familiar with the way military travel works, you will certainly understand that we do not always get to go through the terminals and the same check-in process as civilians. I mean, if you were lucky and traveling alone -chances were pretty high that you got stamped. However, if you are mobilizing on group orders, the check-in and customs process is different and can vary depending on the location. There are certain documents that are needed for commercial travel that is not needed for military travel. Yeah… I wasn’t particularly happy about that.
However – I realized that I had a repository of memories, photos and life-changing experiences that I could keep and share. I realized in that moment that whether I received a stamp or not, I wanted to bring awareness to the world that we (service members) enjoy duty and service just as much as travel. From that point, Battles Who Travel was created! Since launching in May 2019, we have extended into both the Travel and Transportation Industry in an effort to employ the veteran community with job opportunities from the comfort of their home.
Has it been a smooth road?
This has certainly been a challenging and rewarding road so far. I’ve been told ‘no’ a thousand times, I been told that my idea “just won’t cut it” and have been denied funding many times for being a “new business.” There have been moments where I became discouraged and just simply wanted to give up and just throw away the entire concept.
I was then reminded of what I was doing and who I was doing and the community of travelers that I’ve built that have supported me from day one. I was reminded of how my safe space of supporters needed a community to share and cultivate like experiences and connect with others. So, it’s been a rough road. But my goal is to shatter each glass ceiling regardless of the tribulation.

Battles Who Travel is a military travel hub dedicated to past and present military globetrotters and their families and friends across the United States Armed Forces. We aim to highlight ‘Battle Buddies” from multi-faceted backgrounds through curated travel experiences inspiring unique content and the opportunity to travel around the world with us.
Our mission is to provide a safe space for past and present service members to share experiences by contributing to the stigma that We enjoy duty just as much as travel. Being a service member represents freedom and liberty to be explorative and produce a vibrant sense of wanderlust through a new set of lenses. We believe that travel and adventure allow you to forget the social life and concentrate on the world while inspiring unforgettable experiences. We are proud comrades in the military travel community who encourage building a place in which we can come together and share the many travel experiences that only we can tell.

As a born native of Atlanta, I have had the opportunity to observe and learn how minority to larger scaled businesses grow and operate. I’ve seen smaller businesses flourish into bigger businesses over my 30 years here. Atlanta has become the leading and recognizable home of women entrepreneurs with numbers steadily growing.
There is truly no other place to be and start a business than Atlanta. No better place to call home and build my business and learn from leading innovators in my industry.
