So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always had a passion for cleaning. It has always been first nature for me. I believe that when your house is a mess, you are unable to think properly. I started a cleaning business because I wanted to teach people how to keep their homes or businesses clean so that they can have a better way of thinking and have better health. I am big on fitness and cleanliness.. Gotta keep your chakras aligned! I always knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I was never the best worker while working in corporate America because, in my mind, I knew that I was always a leader/ boss. My past career as a business underwriter taught me the ins and outs of how corporate America is conducted. I am thankful for gaining the knowledge throughout those years but I knew that when I started my business that I would run my business with good morals, understanding, and respect (most businesses are not ran by those ethics these days, that is one reason why I quit)! As a single mother, my biggest obstacle was fear! I am not one of those people that have a huge support system so walking away from corporate America was my biggest struggle. One day I said what is fear? Fear is only false evidence appearing real! When you believe in yourself, manifest how you want to evolve, and actually walk in your purpose, all of the fear goes out the window! When I left corporate America, I knew I would never go back and I meant that! I made sure all of my legal paperwork was filed, clients were booked, and marketing was in the right hands. From there, it was nonstop! I started my cleaning business in 2015 but it was more of a side hustle than a business because I had a full-time job and could not put the time needed into the business. I told myself at the age of 30 that I refuse to work for anyone except myself and I did just that. There are tough days, but the good always outweighs the bad. Staying grounded even on the worse day is key! I am most proud of the support that I receive and the amazing clients that I have met. My clients are like family and if it wasn’t for them, Mk Cleaning Service LLC would not be as successful as it is!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I do not want to say that it has been a smooth or rough road, but it has been a roller coaster. A roller coaster that I love riding every day! I asked for this opportunity to be a business owner and because of that, I understand that fear is false evidence appearing real! On my worse day, I challenge myself to go harder because I know whatever I lost, it will be manifested tenfold and returned to my energy. Before I quit corporate America, I made sure that I had everything together for my business. I made sure that I had enough clients to cover my livelihood and to keep business afloat. Although I had my ducks in a row when I finally put 100% of my time into my business, I definitely faced the “new entrepreneur blues!” I faced struggles from unloyal customers who only paid their deposit and did not pay the remaining balance once their cleaning was completed. Property management companies that did not abide by their contracts and customers being sexually inappropriate. Although I faced these struggles, I made sure that I took proper precautions in my billing systems to avoid customers that tried not to pay and my safety. Every struggle or tribulation that comes my way within my business, I take them as lessons and never a loss. I devise a solution and try to avoid any discrepancies. It is impossible to succeed without failing and it is all about a person’s mindset when it comes to dealing with struggle. When you come from the struggle, it is not a hard task to deal with struggles. This is what my past prepared me for and I know that there will be more hiccups as my business grows, but I am war-ready for success!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is when my family and I traveled to Disney World for the first time. I thought it was the most magical moment that I could ever experience. I rode the Tower of Terror three times repeatedly and thought it was the best ride in the world!
