Meet Brittany Mott and Genevelyn Gregory

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Mott and Genevelyn Gregory.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brittany and Genevelyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We came up with the idea to start a business during our time as working as customer service agents at an insurance company in 2017. We both have very different styles and products that we initially made and decided we could encourage each other and offer a variety of items if we were to create a partnership. We began by just creating business pages on Facebook and Instagram and did a simple giveaway to create exposure. From that giveaway, we began to receive orders from family and friends, which in turn, gave us more exposure and lead to more orders. Eventually, we felt comfortable enough to began to receive vendor opportunities, allowing more exposure. From then to now, we have been able to establish a clientele and meet many people who have allowed us to create customized items for them.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We would describe our journey as a mountain. By no means have we reached the top but we are striving, growing, and learning together. The best part about this journey is it forces us to be creative and innovative. Sometimes, one of us gets an idea, which inspires the other one.

Please tell us about your business.
We are Moor Hunni and we offer custom, handmade, and personalized items. We have a variety of items we offer, such as jewelry, shirts, waist beads, pillows, glasses, and the list continues. We are different because we are dedicated to making each item different. The thing we are most proud of is our growth. In under two years, we have produced over 2000 items and shipped to six states and also shipped internationally.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Outside of this interview opportunity, we would say having businesses reach out to us to be vendors at events and also being invited to create a mini store-front.
