Meet Brittany Williams of Boss Beauty Wardrobe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Williams.

Hi Brittany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Owning a clothing store has been a life-long dream of mine. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always enjoyed dressing up and taking photos and even tried modeling during my early college years.

I moved to Atlanta in 2016 & about a year later began working for a well-known luxury brand. The office was located in the heart of the city so after-work outings were common. It was at that time that I started figuring ways I could make my afterhours outfits work appropriate so that I didn’t have to go home to change.

That’s when it hit me! Fashion– specifically business fashion had changed drastically since I first entered the workforce. Gone were the days where women wore ill-fitting pantsuits to blend in with the men or skirts down to their ankles. Gone were the days where black and white were the only acceptable colors to wear in a business setting, and red was the equivalent of a curse word in color form. These days, women are bold but beautiful, sexy yet sophisticated, and all about our business!

I wanted to provide ladies like myself with a one stop shop to find those pieces that could be mixed and matched, dressed up, or toned down. Through lots of research and consultation with my business-savvy friends, Boss Beauty Wardrobe was birthed: Sophisticated fashion for women who work as hard as they play!

I literally ran my business during lunch breaks at work or from my smartphone at home–I didn’t even own a computer! My only goal at the end of the first year was to look back and see that I’d actually made a profit- any profit; to know that someone was truly interested in what I was doing. And I did! My goal each year since has been to expand my reach and build my clientele. As I enter my fourth year of business, I now understand that when you’re doing what you love and building genuine relationships, the money takes care of itself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! I’d love to tell you I was an overnight success and made millions in my first days of business, but no. Success, much like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. So while I do consider my road to have been a successful one, it has not always been smooth.

Starting a business in general is nerve-wracking. There’s so much to learn, and figuring out what works for you specifically is a bumpy road in itself. When I first launched in 2018, I didn’t keep inventory on hand so I was not doing my own packaging, shipping, etc and had little control over the customer experience which is extremely important to me.

It was also a challenge finding ways to make my online boutique stand out amongst the hundreds of others that have launched as well or the ones that were already established. Winning the trust of a potential buyer and converting a browser into a returning customer is an ongoing process but has gotten easier as the years passed.

As you know, we’re big fans of Boss Beauty Wardrobe. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
