Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Isaac.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Brittney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My sweet journey began with an Easy-Bake Oven at the age of five. My parents realized that no other toy mattered as much to me over the years at that oven did. Once I got to high school, I attended a technical center that helped upperclassmen and college bounds kids focus a specific trade and of course I chose Baking and Pastry. After graduating from the Art Institute in Virginia Beach a few years later with a degree in Culinary Arts, I decided to give entrepreneurship a try. So I began baking desserts for literally any and everybody that has ever known me or knew someone who knew me. Word got around that I was the go-to person for anything sweet.
From there I moved to Atlanta to pursue my dreams of mastering every skill in the baking and pastry field that I could. All the while I was still working to build my home baking business into a legitimate company. (B-Nay’s Sweets LLC) Then just last year I received the greatest opportunity I could have imagined and was casted on the Food Network cake competition show `Winner Cake All’. I truly believe having the support from my family and amazing friends have been the reason why I have been blessed to experience so much at such a young age (27). And the best part of it all is that I am literally just getting started.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Challenges have come in all forms for me, but mostly internal over external. I’ve had the family support even if I didn’t have the financial support. I’ve had the encouragement from friends and loved ones but never quite had all the confidence in myself. Fear is the true dream killer. Stepping out and doing something that I know would be beyond challenging is kind of my way of suffocating that monster of self-doubt.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
B-Nay’s Sweets is my baby! It’s a budding specialty dessert company that will have you craving for more. Most of what I offer are just creations from my mind or customers who have asked me to recreate versions of their favorite desserts. A huge hit has been my Hennessy Cupcakes or various other alcohol-infused desserts. The future of this company has no limits. Personally, I would like to move into the field of a mobile dessert truck and take the whole southeast by storm.
What were you like growing up?
From a young age, I drove my parents and peers crazy with my sarcastic and sometimes outlandish humor. I received the prestigious honor of being voted Class Clown of both my middle school and high school. I don’t think that has been done before…if it has then oh well I’m claiming myself as the only one lol. I was crazy into sports especially basketball but my pipe dreams of playing in WNBA died pretty much when I stopped growing past 5 feet. There’s no height requirement for baking so I’ll stick to this for a while.
