Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Jasmine.
Hi Brittney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was always interested in Makeup since I was young – I started wearing & experimenting with makeup when I was 12 years old. After high school, I knew I wanted to further my education within the Beauty Industry. Once I graduated, I moved away from home to pursue my beauty career. After years of school & training, I became certified & trained in Aesthetics, Master’s Makeup Artistry & Hairstyling. Soon after I decided to take more courses such as Lash Extensions & Cosmetic Tattoo. While doing all of my training I was employed part-time with NARS Cosmetics as a Freelance Makeup Artist. After taking my Lash & Cosmetic Tattoo Training, I started doing services from my home studio which was very successful! I was fully booked each week, so I decided to rent a studio space in my Lash Technician’s new Salon. I have been working from my studio space for just over a year now & I love it! My next goal is to open my own Salon & Makeup Academy as well as to inspire others who want to be their own boss & start their own beauty business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has not been easy! It definitely takes a lot of determination to get through the bumps along the way. I have an amazing & supportive partner who pushes me to do my best. Some struggles I’ve had we’re trying to have a good work/life balance. I do have 4 children so it is still kind of tough to run a business & be away from them, but I know it will pay off in the long run. They keep me motivated to do the best I can & to be a great role model.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am certified & trained in Professional Advanced Aesthetics, Master’s Makeup Artistry & Hairstyling. I also took additional certification courses such as Lash Extensions & Cosmetic Tattoo. What sets me apart is that I am very well-rounded within the beauty industry. I am a quick learner & I take pride in my work.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
I have taken risks with my business when I decided to rent a studio space. There were times when I just didn’t believe in myself & I was worried that I wouldn’t be successful. Honestly, sometimes I still feel that way, but I always pick myself up & remind myself that I am worthy & I deserve to reach my goals & dreams! I do believe that everyone should at least try one thing outside of your comfort zone. You will never know unless you try!
