Meet Brittney Kilgore of A’lot To Give Foundation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Kilgore.

Hi Brittney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It wasn’t until the winter of 2020 that I discovered how much I wanted to give back and help my community. As a child, I always wanted to do something big and grand for people. As I got older, I began to think about different ways that I could help out people through volunteering at various shelters, joining organizations for Christmas drives and activities at my church. After much prayer and mediation, I decided to start my own organization. It took my five months to properly plan what I was going to do, how I was going to do it and how I can give in a way that would bless many individuals in the Metro Atlanta area. One night, I was thinking about names and “A lot To Give Foundation” came right to me. Now we have successfully raised over $500.00 helping individuals from various backgrounds in the city.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a non-profit has not been a smooth road. There is little information on how you can start your own foundation from the ground up and what you need to do to keep it in great financial standing. There is a lot of paperwork that you have to fill out and have in hand to make sure the organization is not in jeopardy of being suspended with the IRS. During this journey, I decided to make this an incorporation instead of a LLC because I wanted to give without worrying about taxes and other financial burdens. Becoming a 501(3) (c) is pretty challenging but I am glad I did it. We are able to collect funds with various amounts and help individuals without their being a penalty or owing what was given to us. This has been the hardest part about creating and maintaining the foundation.

As you know, we’re big fans of A’lot To Give Foundation Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The mission of the organization is to provide financial services to individuals in need across the Metro Atlanta area. The organization provides itself with taking on various projects that vary from paying utility bills, raising money for teachers, mothers day gift cards, grocery cards or care packages for the homeless. As the founder, it is my job to organize the events, create the event calendar, meet A lot to Give Foundation recipients, update financial records and the list continues. I am known as an educator in the Fulton County system. As I continue this journey, I plan to create a foundation that exemplifies the need for individuals to give because it’s the right thing to do. I believe what sets me apart from others is my ability to plan accordingly for different projects and effectively coming through each time successfully. My passion and purpose is what drive me to make this organization successful and profitable. As I think about how far the organization has come, I am proud of the amount that we have raised by generous donators, the individuals we have helped and the following we have gained.

I want the readers to know that serving in the community can be very fulfilling. At this moment, we have volunteer opportunities for individuals and we are a nonprofit that does not gain anything from what we are doing other than joy. We are grateful for any donation and we hope that when people see the flyer for our projects, they would donate $1.00, $5.00 or $10.00. It all helps with making sure we are helping communities.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We love gifts! We are always looking for partnerships where we can spread the word on what we do and how to get more individuals to join us. Please continue to post the flyer, donate or ask how you can volunteer with our organization. Please send an email to alottogivefoundation@gmail.com to find out more information. If there is another nonprofit that wants to collaborate or we can help them raise money for their cause, we would love to do it. We know that the more, the merrier!
