Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittnie Roe.
Brittnie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I was into acting and modeling pretty heavily until I discovered I could sing in 2011. I slowly moved away from acting and focused on my music career. For a couple of years, I did karaoke competitions and little singing competitions. In 2019, I started to get serious about recording and released my first single, Can’t Let Go. It was such a thrill to have something I made out there in the world for everyone to hear. Then 2020 came and covid hit. So one day, I was watching Netflix and came across The Vampire Diaries. I had never seen the show so I decided to watch it. Til this day, I can not tell you what it was about this show, but it motivated me so much. I fell in love with acting again because of the show. So I got in online acting classes, I’m person acting classes, did some singing lessons, and decided I was going to move to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue music and acting. A year and half went by and I moved in 2021. Since moving, I have had four parts in major TV shows, released a new single called “Give It All Up” and constantly have auditions lined up. I still go back to The Vampire Diaries and watch it when I need a little motivation. Moving to Atlanta has been the best decision I have made for my career.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles of being an actor is rejection. This industry has a lot of rejection. It’s never personal but sometimes (a lot of the time) you’re just not what they are looking for, for that part. So you definitely have to have tough skin and take it as a maybe next time instead of a harsh no.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an actor/singer. I lean more towards music just because it’s something that comes naturally to me. Acting I have had to train and take classes and still take classes to this day. You always have to train in the acting world. Music is an outlet for me where I can express what I feel and what I am dealing with in life at the moment. The life of Brittnie. Whereas acting, I take on a whole new persona and character.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I have learned that life is way too short. You can’t sit around and wait for the world to come to you. Covid weirdly motivated me to pursue my dreams now because we never know what the world will be doing tomorrow or the next day.
