Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Dant.
Hi Brooke, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My professional career began as an in-house designer, where I got to design a wide variety of collateral such as print publications (magazines, annual reports, etc.) advertisements, billboards, event invitations, posters, social graphics, and more. While working my 9-5, I began taking on freelance clients after-hours. It started as favors for friends or family but quickly grew until I felt like I was working two full-time jobs. I had always wanted to own my own studio, but I was nervous about the lack of stability and the unknown. As my workload continued to grow, I knew it was time to make a decision – stay in my comfort zone or take a leap and just go for it.
In 2020 I officially quit my full-time job and launched Dant Design Co., a boutique brand and web design studio helping small businesses showcase their unique talents and offerings throughs strategic visual design. Since launching, I have been blessed to work with some incredible clients in a wide range of industries. From Charleston Interior Designers and Atlanta Artists to New York Real Estate Agents, Executive Search Firms, Fitness Studios and more. I’ve been able to help my clients take their brands to the next level and hone-in on the desires and motivations of their target audiences to create the kind of brand love and loyalty that moves the needle and drives growth. The fear I felt about owning my own studio quickly turned into passion and excitement now that I get to partner with talented business owners just like me!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, the journey has been relatively smooth and for that, I’m so grateful. However, with anything worthwhile, there are challenges and opportunities for growth. For example, I wasn’t fully prepared for the “business” side of being a studio owner. When it comes to design work, I’m an expert. But business development, finance, sales, etc., don’t fall into my natural giftings. I have recently hired a business coach and invested in courses and resources from experts to make sure that I’m delivering a top-notch experience for my clients from start to finish. Entrepreneurship podcasts are my new jam (feel free to DM me any good recs). I’m learning, growing and believing the best is yet to come!
We’ve been impressed with Dant Design Co, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I believe that effective design, the kind that increases profits and creates brand loyalty, can only be accomplished through extensive strategy work. One of my favorite parts of brand building is sitting down with my client (in person or via Zoom) and helping them dig into what makes their business unique. I take them through my carefully crafted strategic process and uncover the essence of who they are and what their audience wants. Instead of purchasing a “nice looking logo,” my clients receive a full visual brand designed to set them apart in their industry and propel them into limitless success and growth. Brands and websites are a big investment, and I get that. That’s why I’ve created unique package options for a wide range of business needs. I offer The Starter Brand, The Perfect Brand, The Deluxe Brand, and Website add-ons to accommodate for individual needs. Check out my website for a full list of deliverables included in each package and schedule a free intro call.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
We live in a digital age and the need for a first-class brand experience is only increasing. The unfortunate realities of 2020 forced us to engage with our favorite brands and businesses almost exclusively online. Even when we are able to return to our previous normal, I believe the demand for high-quality digital design will continue to grow.
