Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooklyn Marshall.
Brooklyn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to Atlanta from Pine Bluff, Arkansas three years ago as a single mom of two to pursue my acting career; before moving to Atlanta I had never seen the state of Georgia. I was overseas with the U.S Army where I served as an Engineer for three years and decided that when I made it back home I would move to Georgia. I saw my apartment and Georgia for the first time when I picked up my keys and since then I’ve hit the ground running. Within the first six months I signed with PureFlare talent agency and although with two children in a city where I know no it has been challenging, God has continued to make a way and I continue to push through. I received my first lead role in a televised series “Fatal Attraction” as Jasmine Nunez which will be airing soon on TVOne.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A smooth road? Anytime you immerse yourself in something unfamiliar, the road will likely not be smooth but it will most definitely be worth it. I was always able to quickly secure a job in Corporate America, but I found myself consistently feeling unfulfilled until I stepped out on faith and pursued acting fully. As a single mother of two following a dream obstacles seem to be all you see but Shortly after moving to Atlanta, I found out that my dads side of the family lived here whom I had never met and they have been a great support system for me. I felt a lot of guilt as well following my dream as an actress that I wasn’t doing enough as a mom. Luckily for me I have children who although are only 9 and 5 cheer me on and love watching film as well as seeing me on tv.
