

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Lewis.
Lewis is the Owner and Operator of Mixson Market, Básico and Mixson Bath & Racquet Club in the blossoming Mixson in Charleston, SC. Most recently Lewis partnered to expand the popular Charleston-based Coastal Crust brand into the Atlanta and Greenville markets. He has a strong background in entrepreneurship and marketing – he created Charleston’s beloved Heirloom Book Company, a renowned bookshop dedicated to the literature of food. Before moving to Charleston, Lewis spent four years with Mobile Media Enterprises in Atlanta and Los Angeles. At MME, Lewis developed and executed marketing campaigns with major brands, successfully launched multiple entertainment properties and conceptualized brand identities. Southern Crust Catering Co. was launched in Atlanta to fill a void in the catering market.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s never really a smooth road in the start-up of a new business but I will say it been a great experience so far with a few stressful events. Our first launch event was at the Country Living Fair where we served for over six thousand attendees over three days, we learned our systems pretty quickly. The toughest hurdle we have faced is just the sheer size that the Atlanta market has become. Getting your name and brand out was harder than anticipated.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Southern Crust Catering Co. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our business is pretty unique, we offer a full service catering experience out of a fully restored 1953 Chevy truck with a wood burning oven, 4 taps, music and reclaimed wood tables. We roll up to the party or private event with our oven at 700 degrees and set up for service in an hour. I’m extremely proud of how the truck came out, it’s really a beautiful vehicle.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our future plans involve expanding our operations to multiple trucks in the Atlanta area. We are growing it organically.
