Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Terry Snell.
Bryan, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Bryan Terry Snell – I’m an actor, filmmaker, model, headshot photographer & behavioral therapist for children/adults with autism. I’m currently located in Atlanta, GA!
I moved to Atlanta about three years ago now and previously lived in Orlando, FL. I actually wanted to get into modeling which I began pursuing freelance in Orlando. The market was not that great there, but I accomplished many photoshoots and I was able to land a few gigs while getting my experience in. I believe acting was one of things that found me honestly. I never had a dream to act, direct or do anything film-related. While I began my modeling career in Florida, I met two other guys who also did modeling and would eventually become great friends of mine. I found out that they were also actors and honestly, that’s where my journey began. I quit my career job, broke up with my girlfriend, packed my things and moved to Atlanta.
I knew Atlanta would be a great starting point for me because I wanted to start slow. I honestly felt that I had great potential in this business, but there was no need to rush, especially when dealing with art and the proper way of learning. I’ve been here three years now and I’ve managed to find an amazing acting coach whom I work with one on one. I also directed, produced and wrote 3 of my own films since being here (which was such an amazing experience alone). I’m currently signed to Evolution Talent and Select Models here in Atlanta. These are the careers I’m currently pursuing! I plan on packing up again soon, but this time headed to LA for the next chapter.
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not. When you chase a dream that involves the entertainment business, such as acting, singing, modeling, etc., you run a huge risk. Think of yourself as a small business. If you don’t work, then no progress gets made in the “business”. One other major thing I often tell people, in my opinion, is that things have to be so perfectly aligned for this to work. The right job, the right pay, the right location, the right resources, etc. Again, just my opinion, but there is so many factors that play into this thing working out. Will you still make it even if you don’t have these things? Of course you can. I’ve just seen it so many times where actors can’t get to auditions because work, can’t get into classes because of pay, aren’t in the right location for any opportunities… it’s things like that, that you have to work through.
I am so unbelievably fortunate that I get a decent pay so I can go to class, I make my own schedule at work to help me get to those auditions. I’m incredibly lucky. That being said, I have quite a bit of thing in my favor and I’m still working towards landing something big. It just takes time, effort, dedication, and most of all for me, motivation. Nothing will come easy, point-blank. That, I have learned time and time again. There will be so many sacrifices made, time lost and dreams crushed, but if you can make it passed all this, I think you have a good chance at this.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
I started my own production company called “DreamTime Cinema’. I’m also a headshot photographer here in Atlanta, which is under my production name as well. I’m currently in the process of changing the name, but that is the company in which I titled the production on my three films. I don’t often market this production company due to the change in name that is coming, but after that, I will be promoting quite a bit. We’ll see what happens though!
Where do you see yourself going over the next 5-10 years? Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
Honestly, I see myself taking things to the next level and grinding a lot harder, networking more and making better connections, promoting myself and demonstrating better quality overall. I can’t say in the next 5-10 years I’ll be this, or I’ll be that. I’ve learned in this business, things can change tomorrow and you’re life can be completely different. As long as I keep doing what I do, taking things seriously, and advancing… then only time will tell what’s next for me. My main goal is to be a working actor… that’s all.
